Is Pure Genius saying goodbye for good? CBS has released a synopsis for the season one finale of the TV show.
The medical drama follows top doctors as they team up with cutting-edge tech experts and try to push the boundaries of modern medicine to save lives. The cast includes Dermot Mulroney, Augustus Prew, Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song.
CBS has not yet announced whether or not Pure Genius will return for a second season. However, things aren’t looking great. So far, season one is averaging an 18-49 demo rating of .87 and 5.37 million viewers, placing it third-to-last out of CBS’ scripted TV shows for the 2016-2017 season.
The season (and possibly series) finale of Pure Genius airs on January 26th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

What do you think? Are you watching Pure Genius? Do you think it should be renewed?
I love this show and have gotten two people to start watching it this week just from what I have told them about it. Please give it time to grow and develop. Just the last couple of episodes have really started to show you more of the characters and caused us to get more attached to them.
I have enjoyed each and every episode and each character just keep getting better and deeper. Great stories and a wonderful ensemble cast. Remember St. Elsewhere well it’s first season it did NOT get high rating and did not have actors that we were familiar with like….Denzel Washington and George Clooney to name a couple. Network gave the show a chance. Please give this show a chance it deserves it.
I love this show, it’s great how the drama goes into science with so much passion, the inspiration towards knowledge and hope that it will change the future of health and care, is an amazing persepective.
Please renew its one of your best shows ever!!!
Excellent show, forward thinking science (fiction) drama with a view to what might be, as we humans continue to explore how we function and possibly endure as thinking, physical beings. Nice to have a show like this for thinking human beings.
Really love how they play with emotions and strike that part of you that really wants to care …..hell it inspires………
This is one of this years best shows….renew please
One of the best shows on TV. Hope CBS renews series. Want to see how characters develop. Networks need to cater more to the over 49 population.
Please please renew pure genius !!!! It is so informative to the viewers of the future in medicine. We all (including health professionals, as myself (Nurse Practitioner ) need to educate others so we will have geniuses and more students entering the medical field. The future otherwise looks bleak ….no one wants to be “a doctor or other scientist in the healthcare field, the way the system is now….we need to look at the future to recruit these kinds of people to form a team. This show explains it all. There are far too many shows on TV that are… Read more »
Sometimes the dialog is a little stilted but overall interesting concept and generally well acted. Looking forward to more character development and relationships. So much better than 90% of sitcoms and most reality shows. Keep it please!
PLEASE renew this show! Believe me, you won’t be sorry! I predict that it’s audience is going to grow dramatically as we loyal followers get out the word about how great it is. The chemistry between characters is already amazing (yet suspenseful :^) and I HAVE to know what happens to Lewis and James!!!
Move it to 8 p.m. Let the audience find it. Please!!!
PLEASE RENEW !! IT deserves a second season !
I love this show and the cast! For the naysayers who claim “malpractice” please remember it’s fiction – not reality tv! (which is usually fiction anyway!) I hope CBS renews it!
Please renew. Awesome show
