The team members on the Pure Genius TV show work together to save lives. It’s a noble cause but will their stories attract enough viewers to bring big ratings? Will this new CBS TV series be cut down in its prime (cancelled) or, will it be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Pure Genius follows top medical professionals as they team up with cutting-edge tech experts and try to push the boundaries of modern medicine to save lives. Doctor Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) is a disgraced but brilliant surgeon who is recruited by a young Silicon Valley tech billionaire, James Bell (Augustus Prew). Wallace learns that Bell is harboring a secret and he begins to question just what the young founder is really trying to achieve. Others on the team are played by Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Pure Genius TV show on CBS? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
5/15/17 update: CBS has cancelled Pure Genius after one season. Details here.
Incredible and extremely important to keep this show ongoing, it gives me Hope that one day such miracles will be easily attainable in the medical field. Please don’t cancel Pure Genius. It’s one of the best shows in prime time TV in decades
Please do NOT cancel this show. It is so beautifully written and acted. And so intelligent. It gives hope and inspiration. Pure Genius is the best show on television. Cancelling it would be a great disservice to the viewing public.
Please do not cancel pure genius! It’s hopeful, uplifting and intelligent. It’s the only show on TV that the whole family, including older kids could watch together.
Please renew. I love this show.
Every time I start to love a show, it vanishes. (Limitless, anything Sorkin, Person of Interest). Pure Genius is a feel-good show that doesn’t drown itself in stupidity. Please don’t cancel it, CBS. You set a show in Silicon Valley ( I live there), home of innovation and intelligence …that’s ABOUT innovation and intelligence…yet no one seems to care about the viewers that live here. Why is Survivor in it’s 123red season? Two Broke Girls? Kevin Can Wait? Big Brother season 89, dipshits vs dumbasses….? Am I the only crazy one that doesn’t find any appeal in The Big Bang… Read more »

Pure Genius- Please don’t cancel this show. It is my favorite. It goes far beyond the doctor’s show. Each episode is a deep psychological thriller. Real issues. Real people with their own personal struggle. The themes of each episode touches a broad spectrum of human is values: integrity, honesty, gratitude, collaboration, respect, responsibilities, loneliness, friendship.
It is so exciting to watch the dialogs when the characters develop new ideas, finish each other phrases, move the idea to the next level. Genius at work. I am looking forward to continue enjoying Pure Genius show.

Love Pure Genius. Tv is getting a bit heavy with police and crime dramas. Need more medical shows.
It’s a sad state of affairs, with the quantity of recording devices available, basically designed to avoid having to watch the STUPID commerials being aired today, that a programs life or death is based upon the viewing of said STUPIDLY RIDICULOUS junk crammed down our throats. Personally, I fast forward every commercial aired as I have more intelligence than the buffoons dreaming them up.
This is a great show! The technology side gives us hope of what is in our future and the personal stories are heartwarming. I certainly hope they don’t get cancelled. It’s great to watch a show where not everyone is being murdered or tortured or exploited. There’s enough of that in the real world. Give me a show like this where you feel good after watching it.
I think this is one of the best shows around just now as it has an immense feel good factor, which we all can do with just now, when the patients are helped. I have always enjoyed medical dramas and this is no exception. It is up there with ER, Grey’s Anatomy and I am enjoying the second series of Code Black. You feel for the characters and I love them all. I especially love James you feel such empathy for his prediciment. You are willing them to find cures that normal hospitals just can’t afford or have the tech… Read more »
Please do not cancel. Love this show. Love the subject and the actors. Think you are jumping to cancel way to fast.
One of the best shows on TV today. positive. Inspiring. Please don’t cancel.
Great show, great actors – it would have succeeded if they DUMPED THE LIBTARD AGENDA and stuck with simple human interest subjects.
