FOX has cancelled their Raising Hope sitcom after four seasons. The one-hour series finale will air on Friday, April 4th.
Here’s their press release:
THE CHANCES HAVE AN Unforgettable BACKYARD SEND-OFF IN A ONE-HOUR SERIES FINALE OF “Raising Hope” FRIDAY, APRIL 4
Critically acclaimed comedy Raising Hope will end its four-season run with a special one-hour farewell event Friday, April 4 (9:00-9:30/9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT). The series finale kicks off with the all-new episode “How I Met Your Mullet” (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), in which guest star Lesley Nicol (“Downton Abbey”) plays Jimmy (Lucas Neff) and Sabrina’s (Shannon Woodward) new maid. Then, in “The Father Daughter Dance” (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT), Virginia’s (Martha Plimpton) dad (guest star Jeffrey Tambor, “Arrested Development”) returns to Natesville with a big surprise for her and Burt (Garret Dillahunt), including a musical performance by Kenny Loggins (guest-starring as himself).
“On behalf of myself, Greg Garcia and Raising Hope’s amazing cast and crew, I would like to thank our audience for tuning in and supporting us over the last four seasons,” said executive producer Mike Mariano. “We planned our Season Four finale with this possibility in mind, and hope our loyal fans enjoy the way we’ve chosen to say goodbye to the Chances and to Natesville. Thanks again, and we’ll see you in syndication.”
“Getting to know and love the Chance family on Raising Hope has been a sweet, hilarious ride,” said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment and Joe Earley, Chief Operating Officer, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Thanks to the incredibly talented cast – along with Greg, Mike and the entire crew – for making us laugh for four fantastic seasons.”
Raising Hope, created by Greg Garcia (“The Millers,” “My Name is Earl”) premiered in the fall of 2010. Starring Emmy Award winners Martha Plimpton and Cloris Leachman, Garret Dillahunt, Lucas Neff, Shannon Woodward and Gregg Binkley, the series follows a lovingly dysfunctional family as they raise an adorable yet unexpected addition to the family – a little girl named Hope (Rylie & Baylie Cregut). In 2011, Martha Plimpton and Cloris Leachman were both nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards for their leading (Plimpton) and guest (Leachman) roles on the show.
Don’t miss the final five installments, beginning this Friday (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) with the all-new “Dinner With Tropes” episode, featuring guest star Judith Light (“Who’s The Boss?”) as Virginia’s boss.
zWhat do you think? Are you sorry that Raising Hope is ending? Do uou think the network should have ordered a fifth season instead?
I was a loyal viewer from the start. This nutty crazy show just got under your skin. I have a B.A. and a teaching degree and hubbie has a PhD. We’re only bragging because in spite of these nice degrees no show is too silly for us! Actually, the show appeared deceptively simple and ridiculous. But in reality, there was always an amazing story arc and a morality tale by the end. The way these people loved each other in spite of their financial and intellectual challenges was a lesson for us all. Please… bring it back.

Love the Chances and all of the amazing guest starts who have graced this show. I will really miss this show.
Why does FOX cancel all their good shows?
This is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, next to My name is Earl. I think they should have stayed on the air a few more years! I’m so unhappy about this cancellation.
Thanks for the last few years!
Best show on fox hate everything else this comedy should stay on most people don’t know its canceled that’s why there’s few comments why bring it back for season 4 but not 5?
you are taking off a very good show. I have been watching it since it started and have enjoyed it each viewing. The characters are so well played and fit well with each other. You should give it another season. It is just getting started!!
OMG, such ****** news to start my day with! I think Raising Hope is the best sitcom out there at the moment. No laughing tracks, no ******** around with the camera angles (which seems to be the new popular sitcom style and annoys the hell out of me and my boyfriend), GREAT character development, GREAT characters in general and last but definitely not least , it makes us laugh out loud every episode. Something that can’t be said of other shows which don’t produce more than an occasional smile. BAH, now we’ll never get to see Jimmy and Sabrina get… Read more »
Why cancel this show? I don’t get this…it is just as funny as when it started, and now that we know the characters…it’s even better. I knew something was up when they moved it to Friday night. I think it’s bull and they are making a big mistake. This is one of the best sitcom shows in a long, long time.
Agreed Sandy C.!!!
Noooooooooo!!!! DON’T go!!! Please bring it back! EVERYBODY we know loves this show!!! Why do the best shows always cancelled leaving a these other incredibly stupid, dull shows on??? Please don’t cancel!!!!!!
Fox always has to play it safe.so what now more big bang reruns?bad choice by fox but what’s new.lol guess ill only watch following then CBS from now on.thanks for dropping the ball fox…..
FOX didn’t always play it safe, there was a time when they were young and brash. Married with children, the simpsons, the tracey ullman show, in living color… That’s what’s sad. They’ll be sorry they let this one go.
Thanks for a great four years. It is a sweet, funny and charming show. I appreciate that you didn’t shove a laugh track in, but rather left it up to the viewer to decide if something was funny. We were never disappointed.
Figures! I liked this raising hope and it is one of the three I actually watch on FOX. Good thing there is plenty of other stations to watch! LOL
I am really glad to have gotten 4 seasons out of this show. It was a great show, but never took off with the viewers.
I only discovered Raising Hope in the second season, but I have come to really love it. I know that it has been struggling in the ratings, and thought this was probably going to happen, but am still sad that it is ending.
I will be sad to see it go but nothing good last forever-Greg Garcia has a knack for creating endearingly stupid characters for both this and ‘Earle’.
