There’s mixed news for fans of the Red Oaks TV show from Amazon. The streaming service has announced that the comedy has been renewed for a third season but there won’t be a fourth. The final season will be filmed and released later this year. The previous seasons of Red Oaks have had 10 episodes apiece and have been released in October and November.
Here are some excerpts from the Prime Video press release:
Red Oaks creators Joe Gangemi and Greg Jacobs commented: “We’ve always hoped to send these characters off to their futures with a third and final season, so we’re thrilled that Amazon has given us the opportunity to do so.”
Set in the 1980s, Red Oaks explores the comic misadventures of the misfit staffers and clueless members of a country club in suburban New Jersey. Starring Craig Roberts (Submarine: The Fundamentals of Caregiving), and Paul Reiser (Mad About You), Red Oaks will begin production later this year on its third and final season, concluding the stories of aspiring young filmmaker David Meyers and the colorful characters he’s met on his journey to adulthood.
Starring alongside Roberts and Reiser is a talented ensemble cast including Richard Kind (Inside Out), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing), Alexandra Socha (Cut Shoot Kill), Oliver Cooper (Office Christmas Party), Ennis Esmer (Blindspot), Gina Gershon (Staten Island Summer) and Alexandra Turschen (Boy Meets Girl). The series was created by Gregory Jacobs (Magic Mike XXL) and Joe Gangemi (Stonehearst Asylum), and is executive produced by Jacobs and Gangemi with Steven Soderbergh (The Knick) and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express).
What do you think? Do you enjoy the Red Oaks TV show on Amazon? Will you be watching season three? Would you have likely watched season four?
Love this show and all the fun characters! So sad there won’t be another season, Yes would definitely watch a season 4.
I loved this show! I was in love with everyone! Always rooting for Wheeler and Misty, Mr. and Mrs. Meyer (whether together or not), loved David’s relationships with everyone esp. Nash and Mr. Getty. Each character, however small their part, was loveable in some way. It was like Caddy Shack and Breakfast Club rolled into one. Sheesh, I can’t believe there isn’t a Season 4. So disappointed! “I never know, I never know, I never know, I never know why
you make me want to cry.” ~OMD
So sad it ended at season 3. Amazon does a terrible job at promoting shows. When we found this we couldn’t stop watching. All the characters are brilliant.
So incredibly upset there will be no season 4. Although they kind of ended it, they really didn’t.
I just discovered “Red Oaks” last weekend and binge-watched all three seasons. Loved it. Trying to find out why it was pulled. I thought the story, writing and acting was just great. Nostalgic, but well done. Apparently a lot of people thought highly of it, as I did. I was disappointed there was no season 4.
It’s one of the best series I’ve seen on Amazon and there’s a lot of them.
Would like to see how they develop a Season 4. Yes, I would watch Season 4.
It seems a shame that this amazing show has only 3 seasons….superb actors and script…it’s got humor and heart. I hope it is given some more new seasons.
Found this show when signed up for Amazon prime for 30 day trial to get free shipping 😉
And binge watch the 2 seasons.
I was even thinking about singing up when the 3rd season came out just to watch this show.. But probably won’t if already sad news it the last 🙁
Love this show and would love for it to continue beyond season 3and to have a season 4. Red Oaks is a wonderful show with a great cast and very intelligent writing so I don’t understand why it is being cancelled. Maybe if enough people write Amazon and request that the show continue then maybe….??
Love this little show. I would have watched season 4 but Amazon is too busy with their heads up the asses of Transparent and Catastrophe which are about an entire family turning transgender and masturbation, respectively -and just like politics in America -if you don’t like what 14 year olds are preaching, you’re dead to them.
Have to agree after having binge watch the first two seasons. As a kid from the 80’s I watched more than my fair share of summer schlock, who’d have thought that a team as talented as this group could actually pull off a all-grown-up version, not me – and to waste such talent in only four seasons, sheesh what is the world coming to? Does it all have to be “in your face”, can’t we just have a good script with a group of legendary actors for pete’s sake?
Great cast, a little nostalgia, it was fun..I will look forward to Season 3, am disappointed that there will be no Season 4.
One of Amazon’s best orignals.
Loved it! Like looking back in time! can’t wait for season 3
Yes! loved it 5 stars would love to have a 4rth season!
Would have watched season 4 but now will look have to look for something on Netflix, Amazon just doesn’t get it.
