Late in the 2013-14 season, NBC and ABC launched three new Sunday night dramas — all with single word titles. NBC cancelled Crisis and Believe while ABC renewed Resurrection for a second season. In retrospect, was that a good decision for the alphabet network? Should Resurrection have been cancelled as well?
On Resurrection, a small town in Missouri is turned upside down when long-dead loved ones return after 30 years. The cast includes Omar Epps, Frances Fisher, Matt Craven, Devin Kelley, Mark Hildreth, Samaire Armstrong, Sam Hazeldine, Landon Gimenez, and Kurtwood Smith.
Debuting on March 9th, Resurrection had a great launch with a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.9 million total viewers. (Those numbers are about the same as this season’s How to Get Away with Murder’s debut.)
Unfortunately, Resurrection’s ratings dropped about 19% in week two and they kept falling nearly every week of the eight episode season. The seventh installment hit a low of a 1.9 rating with 7.85 million — half of the premiere’s demo rating.

Considering the poor luck that the alphabet network had last year launching new dramas, it wasn’t much of a surprise that ABC renewed Resurrection. They didn’t have much choice. However, the ratings slide was a terrible sign for the future.
Now, the show has been really struggling in season two. After a positive second season debut, the ratings quickly dropped, falling to new series lows week after week. The October 26th installment registered a mere 1.2 rating with 4.36 million.
ABC recently ordered full seasons and additional episodes of many of their new and older shows. It was a telling sign that the network is only producing 14 episodes of Resurrection this season.
Unless the ratings improve, it looks very likely that Resurrection will be cancelled by May. Hopefully, the writers will give viewers some degree of closure before the end.

Please don’t cancel Resurrection! However, there’s room for improvement especially with the many twists the show has taken with the past few episodes. For example, since Father Tom died, why hasn’t there been a funeral, or talk about what happened to him and how the Sheriff’s deputy was responsible. Where did Barbara actually disappear to and how? Why have Henry die and return and what does the former convict/preacher have to do with it? What’s the point and where is the story heading? Too many new situations without answering questions from previous episodes.

I watch this show all the time.only thing is its on opposite walking dead which is killing its ratings.you should keep show on and maybe put it in different time slot. please give it another season….thanks
We too love Resurrection! We don’t watch much on ABC. In my opinion, there are too many reality shows out there and other senseless stuff. As for the singing talentless shows, I don’t get the attraction. What is becoming of TV? The ratings all seem to be reflective of 18-49 years olds. Please ABC, don’t cancel this drama. It is a great show!

I am hooked on this show, but I have to admit, it is falling in the “storyline”. It can’t continue to be about people dying and coming back. When will we know WHY some come back, and some don’t? And I HATE that they made some of the main characters a “return”. It sort of makes the show “feel” different, and not in a good way. My family still watches Resurrection faithfully each week. I think it’s a great show and is interesting. I do think they need to pick the pace up a little each episode and maybe answer a few more questions than they have.
I love this show! I really hope that they don’t cancel it.
Oh please don’t cancel this show, it gives us a sense of hope that there is an after life and that anything can happen in life.

It’s failing numbers come from the fact that there was no advertising for the second season. My huband and I didn’t even know it was back on until I looked up the show on the internet to find out when it was going to start again. We had already missed the first two shows of the season. Good thing it was on demand. That is how we cuaght up to the new season. You are crazy if you cancel it. All you need is to advertise better, keep the fans informed.
You really need to keep this show on air. Give it a chance, there is so much that could be done and each character could do much more. This is the ONLY show I make time for and actually sit down and watch. Faithfully. Don’t take it away.

Please do not cancel this show! It is simply amazing, and it leaves both my husband and I on the edge of our seats. We can’t wait for each new episode. If ABC doesn’t listen to us, maybe the SyFy channel should and add it to their line up.
PLEASE PLEASE don’t cancel Resurrection , its the only show that My Daughter & i watch !! there nothing worth watching these day … I am not into all the reality tv show .. I feel your making a decision ..
