Heralded as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to television, Ringer couldn’t hold onto its audience. The show’s been cancelled after one season and 22 episodes.
As Ringer begins, we meet Bridget (Gellar), a former stripper and recovering alcoholic who’s witnessed a murder and goes to stay with her estranged twin sister Siobhan (also Gellar). Her sister disappears so Bridget takes Siobhan’s place and soon realizes that her sister’s life was more complicated than her own. The TV series also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd, Mike Colter, Tara Summers, Kristoffer Polaha, Zoey Deutch, Justin Bruening, Billy Miller, Jason Dohring, Nicole Anderson, and Gage Golightly.
Considering the amount of promotion that The CW put behind it, Ringer’s premiere had to viewed as a bit of a disappointment. It registered a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.84 million total viewers.

In week two, the demo dropped a whopping 25% to a 0.9 rating with 1.94 million. Week thee remained stable but week four plunged 33%.
Over the course of the season, the ratings fluctuated but also dwindled downward. They fell as low as a 0.4 rating (several times) with as few as 1.05 million viewers.
With very few hours of primetime real estate to fill, it just didn’t make sense for The CW to renew Ringer for a second season. They’ve cancelled the show and the last episode aired on April 17th. Since it wasn’t expected to be a series finale, several storylines were left up in the air.

Ugh! “Ringer” was my guilty pleasure and I looked forward to it every Tuesday. I think the biggest mistake the CW made was putting it on hiatus for so long. What was it…a month? It was a new show and it was critical that they kept it fresh in the minds of the viewers. I have to agree that it wasn’t scandalous enough for the CW, or “young” enough. Ringer would have been better suited for a different network. Any possibility that it will be picked up by someone else? I’m so disappointed :-(.
I always watched the show but I had to use the DVR for it and i think what the problem was it was on a night that there were a lot of really good shows on and people had to pick and choose. I always had conflicts with the DVR but i made sure i always got to watch it, maybe if they moved it to a different night it would have done better. I am very disappointed in it being cancelled.
Soooo upset. This show was extremely interesting and kept us all guessing. It was not predictable like all these shows on TV today! It was also Gellers big return I feel and she was amazing in it! It definately deserves at least another season or give us one final show to close it off for the fans! Ditto to that stated above lots of other shoes also didnt make it far that should have, aka Moonlight!
I’m devastated! She finally finds out her sister is still alive and this is what happens. I was waiting for the day she figured it out and now this!!!!! This show was soooo good!!!! So sad!!!!!
The plot was complicated but thats what made it so interesting. Perhaps it would do better on another netword. I am disappointed because I was so looking forward to what they could possibly do in season two. Now we wont know.

Really disappointed about the show cancellation? Very surprised considering it is probably the best show on t.v right now.
I’m really upset Ringer was taken off! I have to admit Gellar’s acting was pretty sub-par, especially in the first episodes, but after about episode 10 the plot got really interesting! I can’t believe they’re just going to leave things up in the air like this!! What’s going to happen?? Will Andrew take her back?? Lots of shows start off terribly (Star Trek The Next Generation for one) but end up really popular. I’m so upset!
Do these television sites just do the viewing numbers in America. If they do why don’t they do viewing numbers around the world. Got annoyed when Wonderfalls got cancelled and Tera Nova

Are you serious? I loved that show! I was really looking forward to next season. I even kept all my DVD recordings of the show. I am glad I did since it was cancelled. Which is funny, because there are worse shows still on the air! (Jersey Shores, America’s Next Top Model, and more.). I am truly disappointed with CW and television these days…
It was a great show! But alot of good shows don’t make it past season one. Examples, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Point pleasant, shall I go on… Secret Circle, Greg the bunny,Moonlight. These made it two seasons, The V, Dollhouse, Joan of Arcadia, Sarah Conner Crolicles.

It wasn’t scandalous or trendy enough to be on the cw. The cw has a specific audience and ringer is not a show that would appeal to them. If the story could be woven tighter sooner in the season and made more “adult-like” (like Gray’s Anatomy type) and more sophisticated, it could have been really good on say abc or nbc at night. I watched the show every week, but it I admit it wasn’t the best written show. I watched it only for Geller. Make the story tighter and target a different audience.
