Roadside Picnic is not really a picnic, but a new potential series in development by WGN America. The series is one of two new series that are now in the works for the network. The other is Scalped.
According to The Wrap, Roadside Picnic is based on a novel by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. The news outlet revealed the following about the series:
“In a near-future world where aliens have come and gone, the series follows Red, a veteran “stalker” who has made it his life to illegally venture into the once inhabited zone and scavenge the abandoned remains of the alien culture.”
Jack Paglen, the writer of Alien: Convenant, will write the pilot for the series, and Alan Taylor will direct. Both men will also executive produce the series alongside Vivian Cannon and Neal Moritz.
