The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

I hope AMC would give this show a chance. To many really good shows are cancelled without a chance. AMC have some balls and give RUBICON a chance.
This show is wonderful–i hope it is back next season. People did not follow the first
episode and gave up on the series, but if you take the time to undestand what is going
on it keeps your interest for the entire hour and you wish for more–
This show gets and keeps my attention. KEEP IT. A GREAT SERIES !!!
Keep it! One of the few shows I make sure I record and watch.
I hope that AMC will give Rubicon another chance. We absolutely love the show, and discuss every detail each week. And what a great cast! The good guys are flawed and the bad guys are oddly likeable. It gives the show such a real quality. Not the usual Hollywood stereotypes. We have just been praising AMC for taking chances and doing something different. Too bad that money and ratings seem to win every time!
Great show! I’m a big fan of AMC and I’m following breaking bad and Mad Men on french TV. Can’t wait for Rubicon season two!
Please, please, please renew this show. It is refreshing to be able to view a show that makes one think and does not provide glib BS and loud, senseless violence to capture one’s adrenals. Yes, it’s slow at times, but this enmeshes one into really wanting to know what is coming and so is life — and then it hops. Keep it. It is an absolute gem!!!!
Just prior to watching the final episode for season I – I finished reading James Grady’s original novel, “Six Days of the Condor,” 1975. That was the basis for the film, “Three Days of the Condor” with Robert Redford, Faye Dunaway, Cliff Robertson, Max von Sydow, and John Houseman. Completing the novel I had a good idea of what just might be happening in this final episode on AMC. Love this show. It is not just another L&O cops show, or lawyer face off show — but makes us think — hey, who is in charge around here? Were are… Read more »
Never underestimate the stupidity of the American viewing public..this shows low rating is an attest to that fact.
This series is far and away one of the very best shows on tv. It relies on good acting, superior plot development, and intelligent dialogue.something most popular shows are missing. I hope it gets the accolades it deserves and then the few intelligent viewers out there will begin watching it.
Hey Christophe: Thanks for the spoiler alert. As for renewal, I sure hope so. I love this show.
Probably the best show currently on TV. Please renew the show.
“Rubicon” reminds me of some classic European series in pacing and character development. “Prime Suspect” comes to mind. It’s a cerebral gem among the formulaic, action and violence packed spy and detective shows that jam the airwaves. Losing “Rubicon” would not only be a disappointment to me, it would be a sad commentary on the state of television. This is one of the best television shows ever.
It is unfortunate that more people have not tuned into this gem of a show. Give it another chance with better advertising. Loved every episode but the last – it was written as if the writers themselves did not know it was going to end and hurried to an unsatisfying quick finale. James Badge Dale does a marvelous job as Will, as does Arliss Howard and Dallas Roberts in their respective roles.
I could not believe that they killed Katherine Rumor. This scene was so chilling and well done. It made the finale. Plus I still have so many questions about who is Andy? Who is she working for? Is she really with the good guys or was she planted there?
Anyway so I say Yes Yes and Yes, I hope AMC takes a leap of faith and renew this amazingly well written and challenging show.
This is one of the smartest and most intelligent shows that i have seen in recent times…it is like a breath of fresh air in the mind numbing barrage of medical, police and legal dramas that are there whenever u turn on the tv…this show makes u think…it might just all be conspiracy theories but the way the story and the mystery unravels, makes u want to know more..it should most definitely be renewed.
Couldn’t agree more!!!
This is a fantastic show.
Unfortunately it is not a show for everybody (it’s not necessary to explore more this subject 😉
