The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

To me, Rubicon is one of the most engaging series on TV. I can only hope that there are enough viewers to keep this show, and others like it, on the air. It’s a good thing that we have independent networks like AMC, FX, BBCA, TNT, USA Network, etc, that can survive lower ratings, otherwise, we would be left with mostly mindless drivel.
love it! please bring it back for another season.
PLEASE RENEW!
And even though I thought it was brilliant, I was mystified by Kale Ingram’s unexplained absense as well.
This show only got stronger as it went on. It was indeed difficult to follow at first, many episodes i felt went right over my head. However it all came together part way through and things started to add up and make sense. It was a brilliant finale for all those reasons and questions that people have posted… but only if there is a season 2 and there are answers to those questions. Please, worst case scenario, just give the constant fans some closure. Wether from a season 2 or otherwise, dont’ leave us hanging like so many great shows… Read more »
I agree with Bill. The final episode made no sense (see Bill’s questions). Also, if they could so easily kill Katherine Rhumor, why couldn’t they kill Will who was a threat and she wasn’t. What was the purpose of her husband’s giving K. Rhumor the secret message on “Meet Me in St. Louis,” which only endangered her? And who in heck is Will’s neighbor with whom he had a liaison? What is she doing with guns and for whom does she work? Katherin’s husband says that is is the place to go when in danger, so Katherine goes and this… Read more »
I would hate for them to give up too soon. This series needs
to be repeated before the strait of next season. To allow others to grasp the importance of everyones actions. It it not easy to follow at first, but once you are on board…Hold on for a great ride!
Oh, yeah, and if it doesn’t come back, it is destined to be one of those high quality shows that “ended far too early”, like Firefly, Boomtown, Wonderfalls…
Different from any other show on TV – slow burning goodness. Keep it going, of course.
Yes! I really enjoy this series. Having worked at the World Trade center in Manhattan years ago. It brought back mixed memories. Somehow I felt like I was part of the team. I wanted to help find the answers with them. Although it seemed a little unrealistic or implausible at times, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I would like to see more earthy sycophantic characters next season. There are some fantastic actors like Michael Cristofer who plays Truxton Spangler. I like this character when he gets emotional, his hands shake, or his bottom lip quivers. Wow! That’s a talented actor.… Read more »
Renew! This is one of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen. Almost as good as Breaking Bad.
What a disappointment. Questions: 1) Why would Rhumor’s husband send her to someone who obviously wants to kill her and/or watches her being killed? 2) Why did Kale simply disappear during the final episode? 3) What happened to the DVD that she was holding at the moment that she was ready to hand it to Will? 4) What’s the significance of the four leaf clover? 5) Of this group of 7 or 8 men, they’ve already killed two, obviously are threatening Truxton, so why would anyone commit suicide when the group turns against them? 6) Why the need for a… Read more »
