It wasn’t a great start for this new Shonda Rhimes series. It lost 29% of the demo from its Grey’s Anatomy lead-in and essentially only matched the demo of the last original episode of Private Practice in the same timeslot from a month ago. With this debut, it’s already on the bubble. If the Scandal can maintain or build on the premiere, it’s got a good chance at survival. If not, it’ll join the list of ABC’s failed dramas of the 2011-12 season.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

Love Love this show!!!!!!! Please KEEP!!!!!!!
I can hardly wait to see the next episode!! It is soooo
refreshing. How many cop shows can their be! So cool to
see a poliical drama! Thank you!!!!
I love this show. It leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next! Please keep this show going. It has great potential!
Excellent show. Too soon to talk about canceling…
Love it! Please don’t cancel it!
One of the best new showzzzzzz luv itttt!!!!
Dear Sirs, Fire your director and I will become a loyal viewer. What is the point of making the actors talk so fast that we have to pay close attention just to understand what they are saying? Is it to make the characters seem busy and important? Only the actor who plays the president and Joshua Molina speak clearly. What a shame! I really wanted to like this show! Sincerely, Penny Dolnick
I did not catch the premiere but I LOVED IT!!! It is something NEW and so different! When kerri told the soldier it is a new era, the don’t ask don’t tell is no longer in effect, I was crying. (not bad tears, good tears)
I will definitely be watching it!!!
Scandal is a breath of fresh air. I love it, its gritty and different not the typical cop drama or hospital drama. It goes into new territory and I think that Kerri Washington is a Bad Mama…The chemistry on the show is great. Please ABC give this show a chance and don’t cancel it.
I believe it’s great to see a gritty new series that takes a look at the under belly of how people work between the system. Keep the show! ABC has a knack for coming with great law ( or in this case) within the confines of a criminal justice system, tv drama.
Absolutely terrible. Let’s make a conservative Christian war hero secretly gay, since that’s NEVER been done before. Could we get any more cliche? Olivia Pope doesn’t believe in crying…yet she cries later in the episode. There’s a facade that lasted less than an episode. Also, what is she brainwashing her colleagues with?! It’s hard to find ONE person who is that loyal and in awe of their superiors at work, let alone an entire team. I found it incredibly creepy that they treated Olivia like a god. So she found a surveillance video that proved her client innocent. Big whoop.… Read more »
