Even though, during the last couple of seasons, the Scorpion TV show has dropped off significantly in the ratings, CBS has opted not to cancel it. The fourth season — which kicks off with a musical episode — will provide this action drama with a decent sized syndication package. Could it spell the end? Will Scorpion cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
Inspired by the life of a real computer expert, Scorpion stars Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, Eddie Kay Thomas, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Robert Patrick, Riley B. Smith, Andy Buckley, Jamie McShane, Joshua Leonard, Dan Dratch, and Scott Porter.
On the CBS series, Walter O’Brien (Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits are the country’s last line of defense against lurking high-tech threats. As Team Scorpion, these members of Homeland Security’s think tank solve the nation’s crises, even as they help one other on their quest to fit in. At the start of season four, they find themselves working with their nemesis, Mark Collins (Leonard), to prevent the extinction of the human race. Meanwhile, Walter and Paige (McPhee) feel awkward as they try to navigate their new relationship.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of Scorpion averaged a 1.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.23 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Scorpion TV series? Should CBS cancel or renew it for a fifth season?
*5/12/18 update: CBS has cancelled the Scorpion TV show so there won’t be a fifth season. Details here.
I love the show and don’t know why it is not on now. Elementary is not a good replacement and CBS is making bad choices for our future viewing. ( that late night guy is terrible and he won’t stop) If they continue I may have to just view movies and watch old westerns for entertainment in the evening.
One of my top favorites! A 10 PM slot, with nothing but junk for the previous 2 hrs didn’t help. Nor did the handling of the Florence character, if she was going to be brought in – changed the dynamic of the team,Would love to see Scorpion stay.
So sad to see this show end, so many other shows with no real content are able to continue, I do not understand the networks thought process!
The rating people must have an endless line of morons to querry in order to keep some of the programs they renew.
This was/is one of the very few shows that my wife and myself “TRULY” enjoyed watching.
It should not be cancelled.
Respectfully
One of the best shows on.
Please keep scorpions on its an awesome show
Come on, guys! Sign up on this petition. And get all your friends and all your families to sign up, too. https://www.change.org/p/to-renew-scorpion Did any of you write a letter to CBS about giving Scorpion another go or selling the rights to Netflix? Did any of you write a letter to Netflix about picking Scorpion up for a fifth season like they did with Lucifer? If so, lets hope CBS and/or Netflix gets about hundreds of letters from the fans. Shadowhunters fans took out a billboard in Times Square in a bid to save the show. Scorpion fans should do the… Read more »
I also think that scorpion should be brought back it because it has been such a great show from the very beginning. Also it has been to some degree even educational. Lastly it ended with one of the greatest cliff hangers in season,it just has to come back. Really hope CBS brings back the show.
You can’t leave us hanging! If CBS won’t air Scorpion, NBC pick it UP!!!! This is an awesome show!
CBS can’t cancelled Scorpion with a breakup team! The audience are waiting for them to group again together. Hope CBS will put the show back on after a while
Scorpion was my favorite show – I am so sad to hear that is has been cancelled. I thought the character development was amazing, and the interpersonal relationships kept me coming back for more week after week. It was so refreshing to have a show that had high adventure without blood and guts violence, and romance that I felt comfortable watching with my children. Please, please reconsider putting it back on?
I absolutely love this show. It has action, drama, and a little romance. It’s the whole package. And I’m always on the edge of my seat. Why would such a wonderful show be cancelled?
I agree with Carol. Why cancel a great show. WE NEED IT BACK. It was left with too many unanswered questions about the entire team. Scorpion is a GREAT SHOW AND I HOPE BEYOND ALL HOPE THAT CBS, (OR ANOTHER NETWORK), WILL PICK IT UP. I also feel that we have way too many shows with violence and way too many shows that are reality type shows. I BEG YOU, PLEASE BRING BACK SCORPION, PLEASE.
Why cancel a good show. Seems like these reality shows are taking over & they “suck” Can’t seem to find a relaxing fun show anymore.
