On Sunday night, ABC aired a new reality competition series. So, how did Shark Tank do? Did it succeed in the ratings or was it eaten alive by the competition?
From The Apprentice’s Mark Burnett, Shark Tank gives budding entrepreneurs the chance to make their dreams come true. To do that, they must convince five tough, multi-millionaires to part with their own hard-earned cash and give them the funding they need to jumpstart their ideas. The five are Robert Herjavec, Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, and Daymond John.
But the show’s not as one-sided as it may seem. The business people are looking for solid investments and, once the “sharks” find a project they like, they negotiate to take as big a percentage of the profits as possible. How far is either side willing to go?

After weeks of promotion, Shark Tank debuted on Sunday, August 9th at 9pm. The premiere attracted an average of just 4.23 million viewers with a low 1.3/4 rating/share in the 18-49 demographic. The first half-hour was in fourth place for total viewers and the second half-hour rose just a bit to place in third. The entire hour was in fourth place in the all-important demographic and lost a huge chunk of its lead-in audience.
If the show continues to tank like this, it certainly won’t have much of a future on the network. ABC reportedly still has 12 episodes left to air. Six of them are scheduled to run on Sunday nights and then Shark Tank’s set to switch to Tuesday evenings. Unless the numbers get better, it seems unlikely that ABC will keep those plans.
What do you think? Is the show worth watching or should the network throw in the towel and cancel it already?

I hope they shows stays on the air, I have applied to go on the show with my Shivers long underwear. I think I can make millions with the help of the Sharks!
The show is so exciting to watch, one never can predict what will happen!!! as an inventor myself it is a breath of fresh air to see a show that is entertaining, and lets be frank with what is going on around the world today, there is still hope for dreams coming true.
Love this show! Keep it – bring it back!!
As someone who recently finished an internet program struggling through the barrier’s of what avenue’s to go down now, I find the Shark Tank hopeful and very educational for all up-coming entrepreneur trying to build self esteem and confidence in submitting a strong presentation to investor’s.
dump the apprentice and keep shark tank!
dump the apprentice and keep shark tank
Keep it!!! This is a great show that gives hope to entrepreneurs with dreams. Even if the sharks don’t buy into the ideas, at least the hopeful entrepreneur gave it a try and had free exposure to their idea.
This is by far my favorite show on tv. I have learned alot about running a business from watching this series. I hope it will continue to be aired for many moore seasons.
This show is great. As someone with an MBA who understands business, it’s a pretty cool concept and I hope ABC keeps it around.

I loved the shark tank, it was shocking when I really got into it. I was shock when it went off, and I saw it again coming back I was jumping with joy, really , I had to run and tell my husband because he is a inventor. Thank you…. Abc. for bringing it back, I hope it turns out to be a smashing hit!
Love the show, don’t let it go!!!
If you really like Shark Tank, try watching The Dragon’s Den, which has two of the same people as Shark Tank (Kevin O’Leary and Robert). It’s been on CBC Canada for several years. The “Dragons” have great chemistry and tease each other a lot. If you don’t have access to CBC Canada, you can watch them online at: http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/video.html
It’s a great show, intelligent and unique. A topic of discussion in many groups that I network with. Please bring it back.
As soon as I find a reality show for me, they want to take it off the air!! Will you guys at least allow me to be on the show before it is gone forever, please? I e-mailed you in September. If my idea is heard maybe I won’t feel so cheated. Maybe if some of the people who Shark Tank has helped would assist in some free advertising; most people I know have never heared of the show but say it sounds interesting and they would watch it. Let me on the show and you’ll have free advertising forever!!!
Shark Tank is returning January 8th.
