FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

I PERSONALLY LOVE SHOTS FIRED. I think its not gettin as many rating because they air on wednesday.Very bad day for a new show. They have to compete with. LAW & ORDER SVU, CRIMINAL MINDS BAU, BLACK INK, & CHICAGO PD. ALL SHOWS THAT HAVE BEEN OUT. How many ppl u think are goin miss out on what you’ve been waitin all week for to check out the new show?
Shots Fired should NOT be cancelled, it really shows the diversity that is happening here in the real world. Everyone should view what’s happening on tv so they will not be so biased when it happens in reality. It shows how people are so corrupt when it comes to being a case between a white or black cop shooting, etc !
I love Shots Fired and am addicted to the show. I think it definitely deserves a second season.
Hell yeah. They should show how ever many seasons there are. I don’t care about the ratings. I watch it faithfully.

This is a very interesting show. After everything going on in the world today. The story line may open the eyes of many. I’ve loved every episode. Also being from NC made it special to watch also.

I watched Shots Fired every week. I think that it should have been RENEWED, one season was not sufficient to get the message across: there are good & bad in all races, no one should EVER jump to conclusions without an investigation & no one should ever underestimate the pain that the mothers of gunned-down children feel regardless of race or economic status. I was also hoping that the show would keafe us when some guidelines that other Law Enforcement could adopt or modify across this country.
