FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

I Love This Show! It touches on a lot of issues & real life situations. I’ll love to see not only a second season but a multiple of series in the future.
I live in NC and I was unaware of this show. HAD I known… I definitely would have watched. No advertisement here at all.

Netflix maybe?? The sad part is watch the shows that follow become big hits. Remember the hell that Cheerios caught for the bi-racial couple. NOW it’s RARE to see advertising that doesn’t feature bi-racial couples or racially indescript children. #timingstillstinks
That sucks… this is a true hit. It was so true to life. If fox won’t air it… move the show to another network that isn’t afraid of showing the world what a “TRUE LIFE” rendition of modern day corruption, and racism looks like. It’s a reminder of how far we have not come in modern day society and that we have to do better.
This is my favorite show this season. Very interesting and well written. This show should definitely be brought back!

Because sheep are delusional and fake drama they can write off as a fairytale or just a TV show. A show with real issues that exist in society require the viewers to face the facts of how the world is outside of their living room. Same when they canceled The Newsroom. Truth scares the sheep. Empire plays to a superficial crowd that doesn’t indulge in critical thinking. I do watch it, but it does not have the depth that Shots Fired has

Really, It’s a shame that they are not renewing this show. It really speaks volume of how they really don’t care about our society and the generation that is coming up next. They rather show lies about what’s going on. Wake up people WE HAVE TO MAKE A STAND AND NOT LET THEM CONTINUE TO MURDER OUR KIDS
I think if Fox didn’t pick this up then maybe another network should pick up “Shots Fired”. This Network is sleeping on this show and others would enjoy watching this series. The actors are very believable and the Main charters are awesome in delivering their roles.
Sorry but this cant be true. I will not accept it. Shots fired portrays real life situations. It portrays the struggles between corruption and racial tensions. It keeps me on my feet so it has to have a 2nd season.
I don’t watch much TV but this show has me hooked. I really hope they change their minds and bring it back for a second season.
I believe it hit home and fox should bring it back. These are real issue that going on today.
