FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

I love this show! I was late getting into it, but binge watched all the episodes until I caught up. So sad to hear it’s not being renewed. Shame on you Fox Network! I think you should reconsider.
I love this show I’m very angry that’s it’s being cancelled. This so is relatable to all the madness that is going on in today’s society. If FOX doesn’t want it I hope another network picks it up.
Great show….networks need to cancel all those reality shows instead of the good shows. Why is Love & Hip Hop still on????
I think they should continue the show . This show is awesome . How can you cancel a great show like this and keep all the bs on VH1 . People can learn alot from this show. I feel like all the black shows are being taken off the air. These people dont know good television its sad this generation is so sad.
I love this show. I faithfully watch it every night Wednesday night! If not I TIVO it if I can’t. This show is as real as 2017 is going to get anymore with the problems in the world. My teenage son also watches this with me and has learned a lot about our society and how people are treated. I think not only does it speak the truth, but educates as well.
It was a good show it shows diversity and it talks about real life. No one wants real life stuff they want to see bad and not real stuff. I liked it and sirry it had to go.
I loved Shots Fired and am ssaddened to hear it wont be back for a second season. I guess if blacks aren’t making jokes or ******** someone elses husband we cant have a decent scripted show on air
