FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

Are you Serious right now? This show is one that I actually look forward to as part of my Wednesday night line up. It’s actually the Only night that I watch television, as there is Way too much Sex, etc on. Shows like Empire can remain relevant with All the BS that is on there.
I really pray that a network like A&E, Lifetime, OWN, NBC…ANY OF THEM!

I watch this show every week. Im really mad…..this show address a lot of racial issue with cops and black people. I can’t believe it! But what do you expect from a network that supports Donald!
I’m disappointed that Shots Fired is cancelled. It was one of my favorite shows. I was hoping for another season.
I really like this show.. Maybe they should have upped their marketing.. Great cast and right inline with to days headlines.. Too bad.
I really like this show. The cast is talented and the storyline is strong. It’s relateable and true to everyday life. I think FOX should give more analysis to this. Maybe better marketing? If FOX cancels I hope some other network picks it up, although it really fits the theme of FOX, but also OWN. Oprah you listening?
I really like this show I am mostly a sports fan and I don’t watch much Television but when I heard of it I caught up on it. It’s a shame when something comes on that’s dealing with now it gets cut off we have to do better.
I watched “shots fired” plus it was filmed where I live in Charlotte,NC . I know the problem is the show was to realistic to these little hick towns where thes actual events occur everyday. To busy to cover racism then to have on syndication. It wasn’t going to be 100 episodes even though it’s millions of these stories. FoX the most republican conservative station who only sees us a dumbbells anyway !! ,BET should have had it anyway oh yea I forgot it’s owned by Viacom . Where is Revolt, TV One or OWN ?
This is one of the best shows on tv. I hope they reconsider and not cancel.

There was very limited advertising and it comes on Wednesday where Oprah shows. Greenleaf and Queen suga comes on. Please find another channel… Fox is not known to keep its Black shows…TNT?
I faithfully watch it the shows truth reminded me of vindicated another one season hit too much truth in the show great job to the writer make me wonder if it was a destraction now just a thought
It really makes me mad they are cancelling this show only after 1 season. That’s not enough time for viewers to tune in and check it out!!
