What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Songland features successful singers looking for unknown songwriters to pen their next hit. In each episode, songwriters perform their original tracks before successful musical producers Ester Dean, Ryan Tedder, and Shane McAnally, and the guest artist of the week. The artist then narrows the field to three writers, each of whom works with one of the producers to arrange their song to serve the artist. By episode’s end, the artist selects a song to record for a global release. In the second season, guest artists include Boyz II Men, Florida Georgia Line, Luis Fonsi, H.E.R., Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Julia Michaels, Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Songland averages a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.27 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 26% in the demo and down by 19% in viewership. Find out how Songland stacks up against other NBC TV shows.

Will NBC cancel or renew Songland for season three? This show did well enough last year to land a renewal and, despite a moderate downswing in the ratings, I suspect NBC will bring it back for a third round. I love this show
I like the connection the producers make with the aspiring songwriters to impress the guest artist. I like the commitment the guest artist makes to record and release the song. No good at predicting which song the guest artist will select – I am usually wrong. Ha. I work nights but try to watch every episode. If I miss it live, I want to see it online.

Songland is a refreshing change from the other shows showcasing unknown talent. I love watching and hearing how they rewrite and tweek the contestants song. It is a welcome breath of fresh air to not see so many performers try out, battle it out,, only to be voted off eventually anyway. Songland has more heart. I would rather one of the other shows be cancelled and Songland take their time slot. So please, bring this top notch professionally done show back, with the same 3 writers!! They have great chemistry and are very likable, without being cheesy.

I did not expect to like songland but decided to give it a try. I love the show! I look forward to each show and the chemistry between the people is wonderful. They actually help each other out.
