What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Songland features successful singers looking for unknown songwriters to pen their next hit. In each episode, songwriters perform their original tracks before successful musical producers Ester Dean, Ryan Tedder, and Shane McAnally, and the guest artist of the week. The artist then narrows the field to three writers, each of whom works with one of the producers to arrange their song to serve the artist. By episode’s end, the artist selects a song to record for a global release. In the second season, guest artists include Boyz II Men, Florida Georgia Line, Luis Fonsi, H.E.R., Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Julia Michaels, Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Songland averages a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.27 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 26% in the demo and down by 19% in viewership. Find out how Songland stacks up against other NBC TV shows.

Will NBC cancel or renew Songland for season three? This show did well enough last year to land a renewal and, despite a moderate downswing in the ratings, I suspect NBC will bring it back for a third round. Songland is one of the best shows on TV. I enjoyed watching the creative process from each musical producer, especially Ester Dean whom genuinely appears happy for all the songwriters.
Amazing show- it would be a shame if it weren’t brought back for a third season. It’s one of those cross generational shows- one the whole family can enjoy.

Hope Songland returns. Best TV reality show to date. It’s not just a singing contest it’s based on young artists creativity and their musical talents. The saving writers on the show are brilliant and well equipped in providing direction to these new upcoming artists. It is an actual show that displays ones real talent. Who ever came up with this show idea really hit the mark. I like the other music shows but this one is my favourite. Thank you. Please bring back.
I think this is the most interesting, intelligent and enjoyable show in its category.
I think “Songland” is a great advocate for education on many levels. Songland teaches life is not a fairytale for many of us but you can turn your trails into treasure. Songland promotes jouraling which supports literacy. It teaches alternative avenues for effective communication. I feel this process motivates people to possibly learn how to play an instrument and read music which is a whole language.
