It’s all over but the shouting for Lena and Martin. ABC has cancelled its Splitting Up Together TV show after two seasons. The series, which was never a Nielsen ratings sensation, really took a dive in the second season, so the news that there will be no third season is not exactly a surprise.
An ABC comedy, Splitting Up Together stars Jenna Fischer, Oliver Hudson, Bobby Lee, Diane Farr, Lindsay Price, Olivia Keville, Van Crosby, and Sander Thomas. The comedy centers on a married couple, Lena (Fischer) and Martin (Hudson), who have decided to “bird nest” despite their divorce, i.e. the parent who is on-duty in a given week lives in the house with the kids, while the other decamps to the garage. Soon they find the new arrangement has put some much-needed life into their relationship.
Splitting Up Together: A Look at the Ratings
Airing on Tuesday nights, the second season of Splitting Up Together averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.76 million viewers. Compared to season one, it was down by 46% and 36%, respectively.
Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, Splitting Up Together is in 16th place in the demo and 20th place in total viewership.

I just found this show on Netflix and I’m so disappointed to hear it was cancelled!! I would have definitely watched more. : (

Give it another chance. There are other shows that should be cancelled they are still on. What will happen to Lisa Apple? HOPEFULLY AN[THERE NETWORK WILL PICL IT UP

In a time when its not easy to find a good clean comedy on tv. We need this show, its funny, light hearted and funny. Please please bring us more seasons of splitting up together.
I really enjoy the show and the chemistry between Fischer and Hudson. The networks never give shows a chance to prosper. It’s like I don’t even want to watch a show until it’s been on a few seasons so I know it will last.
I loved this show. Rooted for the characters to be happy. Really disappointed it is cancelled.
The show was based on an interesting concept and a light comedy. It should be continued!
definitely would have watched it year after year. it needs to be renewed!!!!! i’ve been reviewing the lists of those shows that have been renewed…and i say WHY because 80% of them i’ve watch once or even partly and refused to watch ever again. but put in a new one that has some morals and feelings and there it goes…out with the garbage! then they try to recreate rewrites of old shows because there are so few new ideas out there…and add some sex and foul language and they will watch!!! and reality shows that are NOT real…some people need… Read more »
Disappointed. I don’t latch on to many TV series,but viewed this religiously. I feel in love with Jenna’s character and my wife fond of Hudson. Bring it back!

I’m disappointed. I liked the show a lot. The cast has great chemistry. Such a bummer.
How are they cancelling it when the final episode said to be continued… that’s the part that shows the network doesn’t care that although the ratings shoe there weren’t many of us watching. But remember it’s the same many of us that Add into others to make shows you keep on the air. Not caring about our time that we invested in a show you picked up and aired to end a show with a to be continued, not even one more episode tying up the loose ends (which you do that ALOT ABC) will eventually make us all turn… Read more »
Blame the writers, not the network. With the show’s low ratings, cancellation was a sure thing. The writers should’ve wrapped things up. They didn’t.
I am so disappointed that Splitting Up Together was cancelled! I need a season 3 and beyond!!
