Now that Stranger Things has officially been renewed, what’s next? Recently, Entertainment Weekly spoke with creators Matt and Ross Duffer about season two of the Netflix series.
Season one of the supernatural drama follows the search for a boy who mysteriously disappears in a small, Indiana town. The cast includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Matthew Modine, Finn Wolfhard, and Millie Bobby Brown.
When asked about season two, Ross Duffer says most of the cast will be back:
I don’t think we ever thought anthology. I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it’s a different decade. That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there’s still more story here [in the 1980s], there’s still things that are unresolved. We don’t know about Eleven. We leave that up in the air.”
Matt Duffer added that the new season will explore new areas and return to the Upside Down:
We will venture a little bit outside of Hawkins. I will say the opening scene [of the premiere] does not take place in Hawkins. We kinda just peeled back the curtain and revealed a tiny bit of the Upside Down. So we definitely want to explore a little bit more. There’s a lot we don’t know about the Upside Down at the end of season 1.”
Season two of Stranger Things is slated to premiere in 2017.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Stranger Things? What do you hope happens in season two?
