What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CMT cable channel, Sun Records stars Chad Michael Murray, Billy Gardell, Drake Milligan, Kevin Fonteyne, Christian Lees, Jonah Lees, Trevor Donovan, Keir O’Donnell, Jennifer Holland, Margaret Anne Florence, and Kerry D. Holliday. Sam Phillips (Murray), shepherds young musicians Johnny Cash (Fonteyne), Elvis Presley (Milligan), Carl Perkins (Dustin Ingram) and Jerry Lee Lewis (Christian Lees). These up-and-coming white musicians combine hillbilly country music, with the ’50s R&B sound of African-American artists like Muddy Waters, B.B. King (Castro Coleman), Fats Domino, and Ike Turner (Holliday).
Season One Ratings

Telly’s Take
Sun Records got off to a mediocre start and the ratings dropped quite a bit after that. CMT has very few scripted series and this one attracted about half as many viewers as the first half of season five of Nashville. Sun Records could easily be cancelled.

This is a great show. I think if it had been promoted more, there would have been more viewers. We just happened to find it. There is so much junk on TV now, reality shows that are so staged and disgusting, bad language, killing, etc., it is hard to find a decent show that you can watch with your children and grandchildren. This show is the history of famous singers that the retirement age group identify with and there are a lot of us from that era that would watch this show for many seasons IF ONLY you had let… Read more »
Love Love Love this show!! This needs to be brought back or hey Hulu…Netflix..? I ONLY started watching CMT for this show. PLEASE we need a season 2!
What a joke somthing out side the box and you cancel it I’ve never watched cmt but since sun records was on i started to watch nashville but will not watch that now will boycot the station
Not too far back one of the Big networks cancelled a fantastic show called Blood and oil, please don’t make the same mistake by cancelling this series.

This is a great show! I just don’t think it had enough time for the word to spread and it needed more promotion! Please bring it back for another season! My family not only watches it but then watches it again on Apple TV! We need to keep #SunCountry on #CMT!

I want to wach season two
It should have been renewed I loved that show and so do my friends we would barbeque and watch the show while sitting in the hot tub this is an outrage I can’t tell u how many shows have been cancelled than I love that’s y I don’t want to watch tv any more course I have to watch crap shows and all the good ones get cancelled y’all need new tv vouchers if this one doesn’t come back I am canceling my tv with dish and won’t watch tithing but the news an the free cable this is stumped… Read more »
