Supernatural is returning for season 12 this October, and Eric Kripke spoke about the longevity of the CW series in a recent interview with Collider.
The creator of the series never even imagined that the series would stay on the air for 11 seasons. In the interview, he said at the beginning he was hoping for four seasons.
How long can Supernatural stay on the air?
He has put that in the hands of the stars of the series, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. The pair star as the Winchester brothers on the series, and Kripke calls the pair the “heart” of the show. There are always more ghost stories for them to share. As long as Jared and Jensen want to continue with the show, the show will live on.
Kripke is bringing a new show to television this fall. Timeless will premiere on October 3 on NBC.

Been watching this show since it’s premiere of “Woman in white” Will continue to watch it as long as they continue to create new episodes! My favorite show ever! Love the SPN family!
I’ll watch as long as there are new episodes (at least as long as the writing stays good & they don’t “jump the shark” – or should that be “jump the evil”)
