Switched at Birth creator and showrunner Lizzy Weiss announced on Twitter that the long-awaited fifth and final season of her Switched at Birth TV show will premiere in January 2017. An exact premiere date has not yet been determined. Per Weiss, Freeform will announce the date as it gets closer. Freeform renewed the show for a shortened season five, leaving Switched at Birth effectively cancelled.
Switched at Birth stars Vanessa Marano as Bay Kennish and Katie Leclerc as Daphne Vasquez. The series begins when the then almost 16 year old girls find out they were switched at birth. The Switched at Birth cast also includes: Constance Marie, D.W. Moffett, Lea Thompson, Lucas Grabeel, Sean Berdy, Ryan Lane, and Marlee Matlin.

I don’t understand why this show is being cancelled…there are sooooo many avenues that could be explore…really going to miss it..also it would have been nice to see Bay get back with Emmet.
I don’t understand why they are cancelling Switched At Birth. They have gathered so many deaf actors, teaching people to sign, showing how life is with the rich and the poor. Such realistic problems of discrimination. it had to be a huge it. although I am happy that it made it to 100 episodes, i don’t understand why they are cancelling the show with a very short season 5 after a whole year of no switched at birth. Please don’t cancel this show at least let the viewers know at the beginning of the 6 season it’s ending . At least do a 6 season!
I feel to do this wonderful show justice it should be given a sixth season!!
This show has to continue! My mom and I are addicted. What happens with bay and Emmett?? What about Toby and Lily? It needs to stay on!
