It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
We really enjoyed season 1 and look foward to future episodes. Please make season 2.
how. Can NBC do a huge season ending and not carry the unfinished stuff forward? This sucks. Someone else should pick it up.
It was so good to watch this series. I enjoyed, it was refreshing! I hope someday decide to renew the serie.
Would love to see another season play out with taxi Brooklyn definitely love this show! Can’t leave us hanging like this, you didn’t finish the story that you have created so why end it in midstream like this? Not fair to us viewers who waited anxiously for each week to go by so we could watch each episode!!!! Please do us right and play another season!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!
Great show. Need another season.
I just finished season1 and quickly googled to see what happens next.oh,no ! Nothing,it’s over.Bummer, that’s terrible. The show was good and we the audience deserve to see it play out.I liked all the characters ,which is rare .I totally agree with all the above comments.
( Trivia fact for me,started watching the show with Caitlyn as the name of the lead girl right after I saw Bruce Jenner being interviewed as Caitlyn Jenner.)
I love this show can’t believe they cancelled it.
I’m guessing most of the positive comments here are from netflix viewers who, like me, just binge watched this show. I, like many of the other commentors, really liked this show. But, it wasn’t good enough to survive as an episodic network TV show. I mean, i would never have worried about seeing this show on a specific Wednesday night if I had to wait on a weekly basis. So, Taxi Brooklyn would never deliver ratings, even as hundreds of us probably loved this show. After the debacle that was the Assault on Precinct 125 show, the season cliffhanger was… Read more »

NBC what is up?…. You get a winner in Brooklyn taxi. People are watching and excited about a season 2 and you dump it?????? There is a reason I never find anY prime time to follow on NBC.
Would definitely watch a second season On another channel. Very disappointed not to see somewhat of a conclusion to season 1. Great acting by the whole cast.
