It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Yes I like the show and hope it is picked up by another network I just saw it for first time on Netflix and its pretty good
I definitely want the second season!!
How could you cancel this show!! Loved the first season. How could you leave everything up in the air?!! Shame on you NBC.
Can’t believe NBC cancelled this show. Why not cancel other less clean, funny shows instead? At least think of your viewers and give us closure of a season finale or at least an episode to resolve end of season one issues. Entertainment is going downhill as everything else in this society….
I’m watching it on Netflix & really enjoy it. True, it’s are far that are far from police procedure but they are new twists in many stories. The characters of Leo & Cat & their interplay are fun to watch. I hope someone picks it up – I’d love to watch a second season!
Without question!!
Enjoyed the first season wanted another season at least to finish story line.
Love the show! I counted on this show for my hour of relaxation and laughter every Wednesday after coming home from work. Very sad that there’s no season 2…Can’t believe it’s being cancelled, lost for NBC.
My sister and I never missed an episode. It was a clean, exciting show. Waiting for the 2nd season to start. Please bring it back.
Just finished the first season on netflix…i liked it wouldnt mind a 2nd season of this very corny but enjoyable show
That is too bad that you have cancelled this show. It was great AND you left aloy of people hanging. You have a lot worse series that you keep running!!
This was a great show. Very disappointed you cancelled it! ,
very disappointed that taxi Brooklyn has been cancelled. I loved this show. Have been waiting patiently for season 2.
I dont think it should be cancelled it’s a great show and now it has such a suspense to it they shouldn’t do that.
Just finished watching season 1 finale of Taxi Brooklyn and am so disappointed that this show hasn’t been renewed. It started slowly, but became more and more interesting with each episode. What are the networks thinking?
