Viewers of The Blacklist will see a big exit in the eighth season finale later this month. Star Megan Boone is departing the NBC drama, per Deadline. The decision for her to leave the series was made prior to the drama being renewed for a ninth season earlier this year.
Season eight has shown Boone’s character, Liz, complete her journey from FBI agent to criminal. She even landed on Red’s blacklist at No. 1. The news about Boone’s departure is not a complete surprise as her character has not appeared in eight episodes this season.
Boone will not exit before a lot of questions are answered, however. The final two episodes of season eight will give a lot of answers, including why Red entered Liz’s life years ago.
NBC will air the final two episodes of The Blacklist season eight on Wednesday nights (June 16th and 23rd), instead of in its normal Friday time slot.

I’ll still watch Blacklist even if Liz leaves, that is, if the show isn’t cancelled like many good tv shows are.

Love the show. The saga for Keen has drug out too long. Spader can carry the show. A new direction will be good.
I will miss Liz. I love the chemistry between her and Red. She’s a very talented actress and I hope she will return in a recurring role. Without doubt the show will continue to be fabulous with James Spader at the helm.
Love this show. Not sad to see her leave. Could watch forever based on Red’s character.
my prayers has been answered BOONE leaving the series ,had to happen on the second season already what a nagging /irritating woman , and really she hasnt got it to be cast as a fbi agent let alone a wannabe villian THKZ FOR LEAVING

People really should be phrasing this as “Liz” leaving, since the increasingly erratic behavior is from the character and the script and is separate from the actress. Many people don’t distinguish between the two by name when complaining, instead ranting about hating “Boone”, which is very strange. Elizabeth has been driving me beyond nuts since late season five, but I wish they could have found a way to stabilize the plot with simply killing (presumably) her. Absolutely will continue to watch The incredible Blacklist but would like to occasionally see Liz somewhere in mix
James Spader is THE star of the show, of course. But the whole “relationship” (dysfunctional though it is) between Red & Liz is the entire purpose of the show. Catching the various criminals & psychos is always secondary to that. So I’m not sure there’s a long term strategy as to how they can make this show work without Liz. I’ve already predicted “The Blacklist” would only last one more season. I’d say this latest news pretty much seals it. Watched every season and all episodes.
Can’t see season 9 being what it should be without Elizabeth.

I’ve been a Spader fan for 30+ years and his role as Reddington is absolutely phenomenal! Love Dembe and thrilled that dufus Boone is leaving!
