The Celebrity Apprentice will have a new man in charge when it returns to NBC, and that return may happen sooner rather than later.
At the Winter TCA’s, NBC president Bob Greenblatt revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger will film his Celebrity Apprentice this spring. The casting process is ongoing right now, and the new season will move things from New York to California. The series could be seen on NBC as soon as the upcoming fall season.
According to Zap2It, Paul Telegdy, president of alternative programming, spoke about the new feel that Schwarzenegger is bringing to the popular series. He said:
“The California version of the show with Arnold at its helm has pivoted completely, because if you think about what was the economy back [when ‘The Apprentice’ premiered], it was Wall Street, property, skyscrapers. What’s the economy now? Google, California, technology, Elon Musk. It’s all sort of pivoted, the economic driver has pivoted to the West Coast. So it feels like we’re moving from the dark to the light, and I mean that in terms of if you looked at the board room — if you build a board room in 2016, do you think it’d have a big, dark oak table with no windows? The show will feel like that pivot has taken place in all sorts of ways.”
As for Arnold’s firing catchphrase, NBC is keeping that a closely guarded secret. No one will know what it is until the show airs. With Schwarzenegger’s career in film, there are a lot of possible catchphrases that he could use.
