It’s case closed for The Code TV show. CBS has cancelled the low-rated drama series so there won’t be a second season. Actress Dana Delaney broke the news via Twitter (see below).
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Raffi Barsoumian, and Delaney. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Code got off to a mediocre start in the ratings when it premiered on April 9th. The show drew a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.13 million viewers. The following week, in its regular timeslot, it fell to a 0.53 rating with 4.45 million. The numbers for the rest of the season didn’t get much better.
In June, CBS pulled the series from the schedule and replaced it with reruns of renewed dramas Magnum PI and God Friended Me. The Code returned from its month-long hiatus this month and the poor ratings got even worse for the four remaining installments.
The first season finale aired last night and, despite having some devoted fans, that will also be the end of the show.
Thank you to all you wonderful people who watched @TheCodeCBS. Last night was our finale and sadly, no more. I’ll never make General. But I loved this cast of stellar actors & know we’ll meet again. Semper Fidelis. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/kqjcZBTRzo

What do you think? Did you enjoy The Code TV show on CBS? Would you have watched a second season of this drama series?
Much better show than God friended me.
Hate to say it but that show was boring.
This makes me sad…and a little mad. With all the cra&&y, really bad TV shows that have been on for years why do they cancel a really good one! My husband and I looove this show! We DVR’d it every week so there was no chance of missing it. We really hate to see it go.
SAD I HATE THAT CODE WAS CANCELLED! SOOO TIRED OF MEDICAL SHOWS AND POLICE DRAMA! SVU #500 WITH SERIES SPIN OFFS EVERYWHERE…DISGUSTING THERE’S NO LONGER ANY GOOD SHOWS ON MAJOR 3 CHANNELS ! EVERY GOOD SHOW THEY BEGIN WITHOUT SEX AND GRAPHIC VIOLENCE THEY CANCEL…GOODLUCK WHEN NETFLIX OR HULU PICKS UP ALL THESE GREAT SHOWS CBS ABC NBC KEEPS CANCELLING!
HOPE Y’ALL REALIZE AFTER YOU HAVE NO RATINGS BECAUSE EVERYBODY HAS SWITCHED TO OTHER MOVIE & SERIES SHOWS CHANNELS LIKE NETFLIX HULU! GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE CBS…NO CODE, NO VIEWER…KDAVI
I am so disappointed The code was cancelled. My husband and I watched every show and even DVR if we weren’t able to watch. It was on during the summer A lot of ratings would go down in the summer. BRING IT BACK
My husband and I really enjoy watching The Code!!
The Cast & stories were great ❤
I really enjoyed the show. I think they had too many side stories. Like 1 for every character. Still, I will miss it.
I really enjoyed the show. The actors were absolutely terrific, and the scripts were improving greatly as interpersonal relationships became more center stage, instead of just legal wrangling. I’m broken-hearted to lose watching this show every week.
Really was getting into this show. Sad to see it go, wish another network would pick it up for season 2.
One of my favorites. Disappointed that it was cancelled.
I loved the show ! So disappointed they cancelled it ! My husband is a retired Marine and we so enjoyed it. What a shame
Great show. I hope another network will pick it up.
I really enjoyed the very talented cast on The Code very much together! The show reminded me of a milder cross between “JAG” and “A Few Good Men”. The stories could’ve been kicked up a notch, but other than that, I will definitely miss it as a Summer series and wish CBS would reconsider!
Sad to see it go. Had potential but needed a bit more grit and rivalry. Was looking like it might develop. Was hoping they would give it another chance in a more conventional season when people are looking for more real life drama instead of reality tv crap and fairy tales.
My husband and I loved watching The Code so sorry to read that it will no longer be. for some reason unless it violent or sexual no one is interested!
Good show. Shouldn’t have been cancelled.
