It’s case closed for The Code TV show. CBS has cancelled the low-rated drama series so there won’t be a second season. Actress Dana Delaney broke the news via Twitter (see below).
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Raffi Barsoumian, and Delaney. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Code got off to a mediocre start in the ratings when it premiered on April 9th. The show drew a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.13 million viewers. The following week, in its regular timeslot, it fell to a 0.53 rating with 4.45 million. The numbers for the rest of the season didn’t get much better.
In June, CBS pulled the series from the schedule and replaced it with reruns of renewed dramas Magnum PI and God Friended Me. The Code returned from its month-long hiatus this month and the poor ratings got even worse for the four remaining installments.
The first season finale aired last night and, despite having some devoted fans, that will also be the end of the show.
Thank you to all you wonderful people who watched @TheCodeCBS. Last night was our finale and sadly, no more. I’ll never make General. But I loved this cast of stellar actors & know we’ll meet again. Semper Fidelis. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/kqjcZBTRzo

What do you think? Did you enjoy The Code TV show on CBS? Would you have watched a second season of this drama series?
Simper Fi as a Marine and 2x veteran with my tours of duty coming through the Minnesota Army National guard of 18+ years and my 4 years active in the Marines I truly enjoyed this show. 20 years ago 9-11 happened I will not forget that day I was in Minnesota and had been back in the military after my honorable discharge from the Corps in 1990 I went back in the MN Army National Guard as an MP I was working my civilian job and then it happened. I was at a persons home I seen on live tv… Read more »
Discovered the show in October 2020, became invested in the characters… was looking forward to a second season, sad to hear there won’t be one… CBS, green light and continue the story!
I love the show! I’m so upset it was cancelled. Could it have been the season? I mean once it warms up people are outside from the first of May until September.
I enjoyed The Code n hate we are not going to have season two but other shows I care nothing about are continuing so sad CBS
i liked the code to bad cbs didn`t agree I think it was welldone and would have gained a following
A BIG mistake…CBS has so many mindless shows. You decide to cancel The Code … you didn’t give it a change. This program brought me back to network TV. Now I will go back to my other options and say goodbye again to CBS and the other networks.
EXTREMELY sorry to hear that there is no more “The Code.” Best thing on TV since JAG! I looked forward to it each week, and I will miss the characters I had come to know. And I was really looking forward to Dana being promoted to General!
One of my “have to wAtch” shows. Not much for people over 60 to watch anymore. I have no idea how they tabulate these ratings.
Very sad that this show is being taken off the air. A great show and I am not sure why you took this one off the air without giving it a fall start to see what the outcome would be. Take off some of the stupid shows and give respectable shows a chance.
This could of the been a really good series. You should bring it back CBS during the fall and give the ratings a chance. You chose a poor time to premiere a really good show with a lot of potential.
I’m constantly amazed that good shows are cancelled! “The Code” is a great show with good values. The producers should have done many things to promote this awesome show! More marketing would have been great! Also, why didn’t they hire a military person to help them with the uniforms along with other military procedures!
It’s a shame that more stupid “Reality shows” with no values are being promoted? Please stop catering to the younger generation!! Please make, produce and promote more good television!!! Please bring back “The Code” and more great shows!!!
Another good show cancelled because of low ratings that could have been boosted with a little more publicity particularly since it was a mid-season premier in an ify time slot. I can think of 5 shows we’ve seen come and go recently because it seemed like the producers didn’t actually want them to succeed.
Loved the show, I would love to see it come back.
Loved the show why are all good shows cancelled and they keep The bachelor and Batchorett and crappy shows like that
Totally agree
One of the best shows ever is cancelled because Americans are too busy watching stupid, immoral comedies and reality shows. This show was the next JAG, and the character development was just beginning to bloom SHAME ON CBS, THINK I’LL BOYCOTT ALL THEIR SHOWS IN THE FALL
