HBO cancelled The Comeback back in 2005 and some lamented that it was just ahead of its time. The show has since become a cult favorite. Will the ratings reflect that popularity? Will there be a third season? Stay tuned.
On The Comeback, former “It Girl” Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow) is still desperate to stay in the spotlight and believes that she’s got it all figured out this time around. The rest of this comedy’s cast includes Damian Young, Dan Bucatinsky, Lance Barber, Robert Michael Morris, and Laura Silverman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 230,000 total viewers.

What do you think? Do you still like The Comeback TV show? Do you think that the show should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
It wasn’t until The Comeback that I appreciated the depth of Kudrow’s talent. The grating atmosphere many complain about is absorbed and manageable as the series continues. The character, in spite of herself – and because of Kudrow, becomes sympathetic. You root for her. Both season finales serve to wrap up their respective seasons as series finales. The emotional arc of each season is surprisingly powerful.
The Comeback is brilliant!
Lisa Kudrow absolutely shines in this show. Her performance is full of subtlties and nuances that bring Valerie Cherish to life.
This is a thinking person’s show.
We don’t all need to be smacked in the face with a rubber chicken to laugh.
This was one of the most unwatchable programs ever. Sorry , it was THE most unwatchable program ever. Scracthing your fingernails across a blackboard would be more endearing than this dreadful program. The cult following must be part of a cult group or mental facility – perhaps they thought the show was so horrible that it was good – and yet, it didnt even qualify for that – any person who actually thinks this was “great” television should have their television removed from their home and not be allowed on a mobnile device… whomever green-lighted this show at HBO is… Read more »
Its hard to say. I did notice that the season finale was set up in a way that could work as a wrap up for the series.
I understand that counting delayed viewing–DVR and On Demand–viewership is considerably stronger than indicated in these ratings. Great comedy, on the level of Larry Sanders, if a little less ambitious. Of course keep it, but what could they do next?
Lisa Kudrow’s acting in the finale of this second season was spectacular.
Very touching. Very deep.
I hope this show is renewed.
If it isn’t, I hope another show is proposed that will highlight the acting of this incredible performer.
The best cable show since The Sopranos. Of course it should be renewed.
Under 200K viewers. A test pattern could claim as many viewers.
“Test pattern”?
Are you from the 1950s?
Test patterns with color bars stil come on late at night, on some channels.
