Shortly after NBC cancelled The Event, it was reported that talks were underway to try to find a new home for the drama. There was apparently interest from some cable and digital outlets and possibly even Netflix. Executive producer Steve Stark noted that work to save the show had the full support of the Universal Media Studios.
Today, Deadline reported that talks were underway with Syfy (also owned by NBC-Universal) to continue The Event as a mini-series — if the financial details could be worked out. If that performed well enough, the cable channel could launch another season of the drama. If that’s true, it sounds like the mini-series wouldn’t completely finish the story so fans would potentially be left with unanswered questions yet again.
Now, a message from SyFy’s Twitter account seems to shoot down that possibility. The tweet from a senior executive at the cable channel reads, “To answer some questions I’ve been getting, at this time we have no plans to pick up The Event.”
What do you think? Could The Event still find a home at Syfy or elsewhere? Or, realistically, do you think the show is dead?

Come on. Someone, pick it up. The Event is a good show.
As fans deserves at leats one more season.
Please bring this show back ! FEELS LIKE HEROES ALL OVER AGAIN GET US HOOKED THEN CUT US OFF >.<
yeah people, the internet is the new thing, tv is old news.. all those shows I watch over internet half the world away that produces it. and main problem is poverty of the world, you can see that by watching the internet, greatest productions are from wealthiest nations, and actors, crews, directors, writers want ALOT of money for their shows as networks too for running them. on the internet everything is FREE 🙂 i would gladly donate $1 for every episode of the show i really like. I liked The Event, and probably 300 MILLION people all over world would… Read more »
I LOVE the show. Since Lost and 24 ended, it is the only show on tc that in comparable! PLEASE bring it back!
Network executives constant cancellations will eventually be the total demise of network television! Many people have already given up on TV and turned to the Internet for intertainment.
Please continue with The Event, you cant leave this series on a cliffhanger it is a
brilliant story and doe’s not deserve to be shut away in a file somewhere I want to see
Sophia and the vice president travers get whats coming to them. I am hopefull.
Keep up the good comments. BTW do the network execs ever read any of these or are they to wrapped up in their balance sheets?
Like the first comment today, Begging you to Pick up the Cape, V and The Event!!!!
I agree. Why drivel such as ghost hunters, destination truth, scare tactics and other attempts at reality shows seem to be popular with network execs. But not viewers. Most of the made for SYFY movies are terrible, poor acting and CGI! Bring back good mini series like Dune and Tin Man.

I just watched the last episode and I can’t believe that this show is ending. I agree with the other comments about the current poor programing on SYFY, most of that stuff is junk! Please pick this show up!
fingers crossed do hope someone picks the show up,,,the event, flash forwards and v were great shows,,man cannot live on these crappy x factor and so called talent shows alone,,,,we want more sci fi drama asap,,,,,gaz from uk
I wish the SyFy Channel would pick up the Event, or V, or the Cape. Those shows are in the categories of SciFi/Fantasy. Unfortunately, as much as I love the SyFy Channel it has stupid B movies with giant snakes, alligators or wrestling. Why is Wrestling on SyFy, it is because wrestling is a form of fantasy or what? I wish these networks wouldn’t get rid of truly innovative shows that inspire your imagination and are great to watch and keep stupid reality shows. Please SyFy step up and pick up one or all of these great shows. Thank you.
Forget The Event. I couldn’t make it past the first 2 episodes of that show. SyFy should try to bring back Stargate or something worthwhile
No don’t forget The Event we want it back , seeing only 2 episodes is not getting into
a story i’v seen all episodes and want to know how it finishes.
I love the show. Please bring it back.
