FOX has decided to wrap their summer run of The Good Guys a few weeks early, on August 2nd. The network had previously planned to air original episodes of the Bradley Whitford / Colin Hanks series until August 23rd.
The series debuted to a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.93 million viewers. The numbers have essentially fallen each week and hit a low of a 1.0 rating and 3.42 million viewers.
Despite garnering poor ratings during the summer months, The Good Guys remains on the network’s fall schedule. Original episodes will return to FOX beginning Friday, September 24th. It remains to be seen how long that will last.
FOX has lower expectations for summer shows but it’s hard to believe that the network is pleased with the series’ performance. It seems that they’re keeping it on the fall schedule in hopes that viewers will tune in on Friday nights instead of trying one of the other networks’ new shows.
By the time Good Guys finishes its summer run, FOX will have aired nine original episodes. That will leave 11 new episodes for the fall. The real test will be to see if the network orders any more. Right now, that doesn’t seem likely.
What do you think? Do you like The Good Guys? Do you think it’ll last to see a second season? Should it?

the good guys is the best show out there. bring it back
I think The Closer being in the same time slot had somthing to do with the ratings. One week I would watch The Good Guys and the next The Closer.
Great show. Fox is idiotic if they let it go. Matt Nix please take your work back to your home on USA.
great comedy, the seventies collide with 2010,great show sure hope fox is smart enough to renew the season.
I just started watching this show and then it was over. I can’t believe I didn’t catch it earlier! It is one of the best shows on t.v. in a long time. Hanks is brilliant and has so much of his dad’s manerisms. Whitford is incredibly hillarious! The show is so well done and I would hate to see it cancelled. I’m looking forward to it coming back in the fall and can’t wait to tell everyone I know to catch up by watching the episodes on Hulu like I did. Bring it back!!!!!!!
One of the best shows this summer! So much better than all these reality shows. We need funny shows like this, esp.now. Come on people,if you enjoy the show ,tell Fox to keep it going.
I LOVE THE GOOD GUYS AND MAD THAT IT WAS SHUT DOWN EARLY. I SURE HOPE FOX BRINGS IT BACK IN THE FALL OR NO MORE FOX FOR ME!
That’s really too bad–The Good Guys is Good Stuff. Maybe their quirky characters would be welcome at the USA network…where people who love good writing go.
I love this show! I hope FOX lets it stay in the Friday line-up. It’s zany and funny, not like the other nonsense on TV. Bradley Whitford is hysterically funny, and Colin Hanks is great as the “straight man” to Bradley’s off-the-cuff humor.
Very fun and entertaining show. Love the characters and stories. Look forward to the show’s return in the fall.
This is a very funny show. Compared to some of the “reality show” drivel it is up against, there should be no question about it being renewed. We need more funny stuff and less contrived crap!
The Good Guys is lightharded comedy that is needed in these very tough economic times. Laughter helps forget about your financial rough waters were wading through. Keep the show on the air. Bradley Whitford is hillarious.
This is a very funny show that shines due to writing and acting rather than big names, big advertising, or a big budget. This show managed to do the impossible, make me like Colin Hanks. I hope it comes back in September as announced and, if not, I hope the DVD comes out quickly.
this show is seriously one of the best on tv. i figured i would watch memphis beat cause i knew who the actor was and liked most of his work… turns out the show was painful 2 watch- so i switched over to a show i thought would b similar because i trusted the create (burn notice is amazing). turns out, after 1 episode i was hooked, great characters, action, comedy- all wrapped in 1 neat lil package. hope fox doesnt pull their usual
One more thing. I’m glad it’s going to Fridays, especially since another favorite, Numbers, was yanked.
Keep the good guys on tv. The wife and I saw only the august 2 episode. we were looking forward to more.
