CBS ANNOUNCES THE FINAL NINE EPISODES FOR “THE GOOD WIFE”
Series Finale of Broadcast Television’s Most Acclaimed Drama to Air Sunday, May 8
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – Feb. 7, 2016 – CBS today announced the series finale of THE GOOD WIFE in dramatic fashion with a special promotional spot broadcast during Super Bowl 50 touting the show’s final nine episodes. The series finale of broadcast television’s most acclaimed drama will air Sunday, May 8 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).
“It’s never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television,” said Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment and David Stapf, President, CBS Television Studios. “But it also feels very right to end with the seven-year story its creators envisioned, and to celebrate the show’s final run while at the top of its creative game. It has been CBS’s sincere privilege to broadcast and produce THE GOOD WIFE for seven extraordinary seasons. We thank and applaud the outstanding cast, led by the impeccable Julianna Margulies, and the consummate writing and producing team, headed by the brilliant Robert and Michelle King, who brought to life a smart, sophisticated series that has delivered audiences so many memorable characters and unforgettable moments. It is a series that will only grow in prestige as its episodes are watched again or discovered by new viewers for many years to come.”
“THE GOOD WIFE has been the creative experience of a lifetime,” said executive producers and co-creators Robert and Michelle King. “Collaborating with the finest actors, writers, producers, staff and crew on ‘The Education of Alicia Florrick’ has been a dream. We can’t imagine working with a more talented, professional, generous lead than Julianna Margulies or more supportive partners than Leslie Moonves, David Stapf, Glenn Geller and Nina Tassler at CBS and CBS Television Studios. We’re looking forward to using this seventh season to bring Alicia’s story to its natural conclusion. We couldn’t be more excited and grateful.”
“Being a part of THE GOOD WIFE has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said series star Julianna Margulies. “As an actress and a producer, it has been an absolute honor to be a part of a series that, throughout seven years, never settled on being just good… but always strived to be extraordinary. I have witnessed magic happen when Robert and Michelle King put pen to paper, and it has been a privilege to be in the company of their brilliance. To the most amazing and talented cast and crew, there will always be a special place in my heart for our ‘Good Wife’ family. As we close the book on our beloved show, I am humbled and grateful to know that together, we created and were a part of something truly remarkable.”

What do you think? Are you surprised that The Good Wife is ending? Do you think CBS is making the wrong decision?
How could you just take the Good Wife off the air just when it’s getting great again I am so done with cbs I will be watching ABC Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy I think it just sorry the way I found out to
I just finished watching one of the last episodes of “The Good Wife” and want to say how sad it is that such a good series is being cancelled. I know I’m not the only person who is disappointed the series is ending. There are some TV series that continue to draw audiences and this is one of them. I wish they would reconsider, even if they need to hire new writers, who might bring a whole new directions to the series and characters. The show will be missed.
I do not know why the writers are leaving the show…
This is obviously what triggered CBS’s decision.
So sad, as it is really a good show. Maybe pay for the top stars has made production too top heavy to consider moving forward without the writers.
Josh Charles, Archie Panjabi, the writers…now the show is making a complete exit.
CBS should take note…the more episodes available for re-runs the better. There are many good shows which do not hold much re-run power due to limited amount of episodes. The re-runs go into re-runs too quickly, and gradually fade away.
IMHO.
I am highly saddened to find that my beloved show is being brutally cancelled. No matter where I was, what I had been doing I alway stopped to watch the Good Wife. It was so difficult to see Josh Charles leave the show, but it didn’t stop my love for the show. Before the Good Wife, I started watching Sex in the City and Law and Order where I enjoyed the acting skills of the ever handsome Chris Noth. I am sure where ever he lands, it will be another winning show. The problem really is these characters yank at… Read more »
It’s getting harder and harder to find shows that have some substance. What type of sitcom designed for 5th graders will they replace it with.
FYI the show isn’t getting cancelled. The writers are moving on and wrapping up the series.
People seem to so easily forget this ^^. I’m sure everyone enjoyed working on the show, but sooner or later you want to move on to something new. No one wants to be remembered for overstaying their peak and becoming repetitive.
WHAT NEW SHOW THAT WILL GET LOW RATINGS AND GET CANCELLED RIGHT AWAY ARE YOU PLANNING NOW? I HAVE JUST ABOUT GIVEN UP ON CBS AS EVERYONE THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BUMPED THEIR HEAD REALLY HARD.
AGAIN CBS YOU HAVE AGAIN CANCELLED A GOOD SHOW. A GREAT SHOW. WHY CANCEL IT?
