There won’t be a third season of The Hour, the BBC Two TV series. The show aired on BBC America here in the States.
Created by Abi Morgan, The Hour is set in the late 1950’s and revolves around a BBC current affairs news show. The dramatic series stars Ben Whishaw, Dominic West, Romola Garai, Anton Lesser, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Joshua McGuire, Lisa Greenwood, Anna Chancellor, Kelly-Jayne Adams. Burn Gorman, Juliet Stevenson, Tim Pigott-Smith, Andrew Scott and Oona Chaplin.
While The Hour was a success in its first season, viewership dropped significantly in season two. There are just 12 episodes total and the finale aired on BBC America on January 2nd.
A representative for BBC Two said, “We loved the show but have to make hard choices to bring new shows through.”

The first season was a bit slow. Loved the the second season! I was frantically trying to find the next episode. So sad it was canceled!

my heart is shattered this show and the casting was top tier and shouldn’t have been canceled it’s too bad i was too young to enjoy it when it was on the air and my viewership years later doesn’t help either anyway i love it and going to watch it for a third time 🙁

Shame on BBC for not bringing back the Hour Season 3. There was plenty of material. It was refreshing to hear actors speak real dialogue. It had all the elements of a fantastic series. I’m speechless that Season 2 was the end. It was most disappointing.
I hope The Hour will come back after season two…Brilliant acting, writing and Directing. Please consider bringing another Season.
My husband and I loved the Hour. Great character development. Wished there were more! Just found the show, guess it took a pandemic. Wish the BBC would consider bringing it back.
I’ve only just found The Hour on BritBox. How can there not be another series? What happened to Freddie? Did he die? This is really not fair!!!!
