While the premiere of The Jeff Dunham Show attracted a record number of viewers for Comedy Central, the show’s not coming back for a second season.
The Jeff Dunham Show is a sketch comedy series that features ventriloquist Dunham and his stable of characters. Segments of Dunham onstage in front of a live audience are combined with footage from around Los Angeles.
The October 2009 debut brought great ratings for the series and Comedy Central. An estimated 5.3 million viewers watched, with a 2.2 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic. Both numbers represented a record for the cable channel. Following multiple airings, the tally of viewers amounted to 7.9 million.
Unfortunately, the audience for the second episode of Jeff Dunham fell by 55% and subsequent installments fell even further. The season (now series) finale hit a low of 1.3 million viewers. To no surprise, Comedy Central has decided to pass on ordering any more.
Though the series received almost universally bad reviews, Comedy Central isn’t giving up on Dunham. They have a multi-platform deal with the comic and will continue to work with him via a live tour, a stand-up special, DVDs, and other products.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see The Jeff Dunham Show end or should it have been cancelled weeks ago?

Please bring Jeff Dunhamn back for January specials or something so he can be kept alive within the comedy era.
Jeff Dunham is great – but that show stunk. It lacked his real flair.
PLEASE Jeff, go back to the way you were doing your act before!!!!
As an example; Things like talking about your “daughter & the gas” are great, funny. Achmed’s “songs” are funny too. Bring on more.
Damn you Comedy Central! the jeff dunham show was great and their cancelling it because of low views damn you comedy central damn you to hell!!
I had SO been looking forward to the show because I’ve loved his specials and DVD’s. However, the format for the show just left a lot to be desired. I haven’t stopped thinking that Jeff Dunham is the funniest guy I’ve seen in … forever! I’d just rather see him doing the regular concert shows like before — especially without censorship. And to any idiot who would say a ventriloquist is not funny, you obviously haven’t watched Jeff and his team of crazies!!
Love Love Love him….. Great dvd’s but needs to stick to just stand up…. wasn’t that big of a fan of the shows
i was always wondering what kinda show it was going to be when the promos came out but when saw it, it seem like it was the mind of mencia show only with puppets.
not saying that he’s not funny but that comedy central just wanted it capitalize on his popularity.
i thought the show was great and funny always the good shows are cancelled
I think he should just remain stand up format, lot fumier, so many have tired Jeff Foxworthery. Stand up they are more in control. Go back to having unedited specials.
Wow! Perhaps the American public isn’t as retarded as I had originally expected. Why Comedy Central decided to give a ventriloquist his own show is beyond me. To the people who think this show was great, do you know that your brain is the size of a walnut? How can you think ventriloquism is funny? Do you watch rocks grow and clap when leaves fall off trees as well?
Great show! Keep it!!
Ryan you are an idiot, there is nothing racist about it, its called comedy its all in jest, if you can’t understand that why do you watch it, no one forces you to. Sick of ignorant people like Ryan who thinks everything is racist or homophobic, sounds like you are the homophobe Ryan or the racist, racists are the quickest ones to call others racists. Anyway the Jeff Dunham show was great. Should of kept it going and giving it a chance.
I’m glad to finally see this racist, homophobic show coming off the air.
I think the show was great.
