Next summer, you’ll be able to watch season two of The Last Ship TV show on TNT. The cable channel has picked up the new action series for a second season of 13 episodes.
In a statement, TNT president Michael Wright said, “The Last Ship has become this summer’s top drama among key adult demos with its epic scale and visceral storytelling.”
On The Last Ship, the crew of the USS Nathan James must try to find a cure for a deadly virus that has wiped out most of the world’s population. The cast includes Eric Dane, Adam Baldwin, Rhona Mitra, Charles Parnell, Christina Elmore, Michaela McManus, Sam Spruell, Travis Van Winkle, and Tracy Middendorf.
The first four episodes of Last Ship have averaged 4.66 million viewers each week along with a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It’s TNT’s third most-watched series this summer, behind Rizzoli & Isles and Major Crimes.
Today, the cable channel also renewed Major Crimes and Falling Skies for next summer. The latter will return for its final season.
zWhat do you think? Do you like The Last Ship? Are you glad it’s been renewed or, do you think it should have been cancelled instead?
We love this!! Please keep it!!!!
“The Last Ship” is propelled with the possibly realistic possibility of a pandemic where most of the human population is decimated. This series explores the dynamics of those “left behind” living the nightmare finding a cure to this plague before the entire species, including them, is wiped out. Being human, there are more than enough adversaries and political thugs attempting to steal this hope. I love all of the characters, except for the lead heroine, Rachel Ward. The actress is wooden and only marginally sympathetic. The lady has a great figure, a classic pout and great hair. Unfortunately, she has… Read more »
We love this show! Really hope it will maintain the quality of writing.
We love the last ship, it always keeps us interested and helps us escape really. We also love the actors.
The Last Ship is GREAT! So happy there is a season 2.
I’m enjoying the fact that they are using William Brinkley’s novel as a skeletal workpiece….but instead have altered the story about a super deadly virus—- and a but of the ‘big brother’ mentality of George Orwell’s “1984”. I think it’s pretty edge-of-your-seat and sometimes very terrifying and often lots of fun. The blend of the cast, their various backgrounds and some of the way they take blame–even when not warrented—it’s exciting, frughtening, patriotic, humorous and just a damn fine conversion of the old cold war drama. I hope what we saw at the close of season 1 is a promise… Read more »
Some of the best comments I’ve read…& I apologize for not knowing your name…but I agree w/the person who praised the show —all but the lady head virologist. She seems unfeeling….wooden, I believe you said. It’s obvious Tex really has a thing for her—and so could the Capt. now that his wife has succumbed. Personally after I saw Tex still hanging around in S1 finale…..there may still be a chance. Even w/his family back I still don’t like Quincy….call it 6th sense and I KNEW Alfre Woodard and her cronies were up to to NO GOOD!!! Can’t wait to see… Read more »
Can not. Wait looking forward to it
Being a former military chaplain, I’ve served aboard a ship. I really enjoyed the first season of Last Ship. I’ve been waiting for more. Today, I decided to google to find out what had happened. I’m really happy that there will be a second season and really look forward to it. From episode to episode, I was riveted to the TV. Continue the excellent work.
amazing! i was skeptical as well and hello, amazing! watched the entire season, can not wait till June!
I was skeptical when I first saw the ads for the show but decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did. It was much better than I expected and I can’t wait to see it come back. They should run it as a full series not just 13 episodes. The cast is excellent and it has a good pace and interesting character development. Another intelligent viewing option among the dreck that passes for television entertainment these days.
It’s good to here that the last ship is coming back is a great Tv show , it makes people see and think how a deadly virus can wipe out entire cities and entire nations so fast . Just thinking how people will react in the real world if this was real . It will be very bad , I am very happy that is back it also has the best actors and actress and of course action too . Thank you Mr Michael Wright .
I usually don’t get into series because most are a waste of time however I Love The Last Ship and I can not wait until it comes back. I like all the actors and the story line. I told every one I knew to watch it and they loved it to.
The last ship is a great tv show. But if i had one complaint, i cant belive i’m gonna say thís but, its too realistic. I feel like i’m watching a dokumentary. But its still great show.
I’m so happy that the second season it’s coming back in the summer. Thank you for that because so many series are back for many, many seasons and they should not be on tv. Thank you!!!
Just like you I hope to see the next season(s) to see on our local sender (Belgium – één). They have still promised me if the next seasons come they will appear on our local sender from january 2016. I hope. I still have the intention the buy the serie as it’s released.
My wife and I real happy to hear the great news the LAST SHIP IS FINAL RETURNING.
My husband and I are happy to know there will be a season 2 we would have been very disappointed if it didn’t come back on. My husband and I don’t watch too many series together but we were hooked by the end of season 1. We love watching The Walking Dead in the fall and looking forward to The Last Ship in the summer. Thank you for coming out with a Season 2. We can’t wait!!!!!! 🙂 🙂
