It’s been nearly 50 years since the last original episode of The Munsters aired on CBS (the network cancelled the series after two seasons and 70 episodes).
Tonight, COZI TV is airing a special marathon of the monster series and they’re using a classic episode to create Auto Tune The Munsters: A Rock Opera. “A Man for Marilyn” has been reconstructed around five original composed songs that uses dialogue from the show.
The Munsters Marathon Halloween Party airs for 12 hours, starting at noon on Halloween. The special will air at 8pm and 11pm. It was conceived by COZI TV Creative Director Alan Goodman. Composers Paul Rolnick and Jamie Lawrence crafted the original songs. Original animation and effects were created by Dream Machine Creative.
Here are some previews of the special episode as well as some coverage by The Today Show:
What do you think? Does this look like fun? Would you like to see other classic shows reworked in interesting ways?
I think it was great!, a lot of effort put into this, very good job, my family will be watching. Thank you, looking forward to this.
It was irritating and not amusing at all, pure junk. The classic is fine just the way it was made the first time. Not everything from the past needs to be remade or updated to fit today’s society. Some things are just better left alone. 🙂
Pretty much sucked. Prefer the old Munsters TV show as it is/was. Not a purist but this was just “YouTubing” a classic TV show for a very narrow audience and I changed the channel.
