Debra Messing has had mixed success on NBC. Will & Grace ran for years while Smash was a ratings disappointment for most of its short run. How will The Mysteries of Laura perform? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled quickly? Stay tuned.
The Mysteries of Laura revolves around a brilliant-but-harried NYPD homicide detective (Messing) who must also juggle her home life, including raising her young twin boys and trying to divorce her husband. The rest of the cast includes Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, Max Jenkins, Vincent Reina, and Charlie Reina.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/9 update: NBC has renewed The Mysteries of Laura for a second season. Details here.
Final season averages: 1.22 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.45 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Mysteries of Laura TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love this show! I hope it isn’t cancelled… It’s fun and well written.. The chemistry between the characters is great! Surviving jack was a great show too but not enough viewers…. Hopefully the network can get behind this one and wait it out.
Nice change from endless, badly acted other cop shows. My wife and I love it
The Mysteries of Laura is soooo good. I hate the name of the show and would not have watched, but I caught it by sheer accident and now I am hooked. DO NOT CANCEL this one NBC. Give it a chance to find an audience. Debra Messing is believable on all fronts as a mother, cop and divorced woman looking for her 2nd act. I can so relate.. Funny, well written and good casting. NBC do not pull the plug….
Renew this TV Show,”Mysteries of Laura” and also RENEW “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago
PD” and Pick Up the ABC Mickey Mouse Network Cancelled TV Show, “Killer Women” or
NBC has lost this TV Watcher for good! Oh by the way PLEASE Less Sports as well! The Sports Fans Need Their Own 24/7 All Sports-All The Time TV Network so the rest of NON-SPORTS FAN TYPES can watch our own TV Shows with NO SPORTS!
The appeal of this show is a mystery to me.
I can understand that it is not for everyone. I am a big, big fan of all Law & Orders. And this is a relief from how ‘ dark’ L&O can often be. I grew tired of Debra’s character in Will & Grace so her character here is a refreshing change. I like the quirky aspects of her.
Enjoyed the 2nd episode even more than the first. I didn’t care for Debra M’s character in Will & Grace. Think she does a much better job on ‘ Laura’. Please keep this show.
Love it
major ratings drop as expected.
The commercial looked interesting, except for the brat kids. No interest in those little villains.
I watched this show for the first time and I did enjoy it, so please leave it on!
Debra Messing is a great actress but who wants to see a show with bratty kids in it? Adults watch TV to relax – having a stressed out lead character with two very badly behaved kids in it is not my idea of a relaxing show. Keep her, lose the kids.
I loved the show. I am looking forward to other episodes. Good to see Debra Messing in this new role.
I agree with Ralph. I like some of the quirky aspects of ‘Laura’ . Like her partner & looking forward to more of Josh Lucas too.
Thanks Elaine love reading the many well written posts and replies like yours Elaine that sure prove Killer Women and Mysteries of Laura clearly show today’s modern woman is sure not your mother or father type gal that dominated the TV for too many years! I love assertive independent women with minds of their own!
Seeing the promos was enough to make me NOT want to watch.
2.1 higher than I thought it would be.
Like this show already Hope it makes It!
