Created by Aaron Sorkin, The Newsroom follows the behind-the-scenes events at the fictional Atlantis Cable News (ACN) channel. Interestingly, both ACN and HBO are hoping for big ratings.
The cast includes Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn, and Sam Waterston.

What do you think? Do you like The Newsroom TV series? Do you think it should be renewed for a second season or cancelled instead?
Love Love Love Newsroom – wish it would be possible in real life to hear the truth. I am so sick of the masses being misinformed or programmed by the big business machine known as Fox News. Wish we could reinstate the Fairness Doctrine to hold people accountable for their words. Love that this is all based on real news stories and that Will identifies himself with the REAL Republican Party. I’ve heard that it is too biased to be renewed. Hope not.
Newsroom is excellent. The dialogue, direction, plot….love it. Hope it continues.
Very enjoyable show – my son and I look forward to watching every Sunday night. Great writing and we have been sucked into to the whole storyline (in a good way). I especially enjoy how they incorporate actual news footage to further the story and underline the point. The snippet in the most recent episode about the Republican debates (Michelle Bachman being asked “Elvis or Johnny Cash?”) was absolutely priceless. The writing makes you work and pay attention – a rarity in TV these days in my opinion. Waaaaay more entertaining than reality TV. Please don’t cancel this show HBO!… Read more »
i love newsroom
I am a republican and I love newsroom. It is my new favorite show and it should be renewed!!!!!!
I think this show is amazing. I love the way the actors speak to one another. I love the characters. Its my new favorite show!
One of the best shows in more seasons than I can count. I’ve been there. It’s real.
I should be canceled. It’s a disgrace to “true and honest journalism”. As an Independent voter, it infuriates me when anyone lies for the sake of partisanship. The show is simply a campaign tool for Democrats and Mr. Sorkin should be ashamed of compromising his work like this. Mr. Sorkin is a very gifted writer and I used to like him very much, but now, not at all.
The Newsroom is by far one of my favorite new shows! It should most readily be renewed for a second season. While the spin is somewhat liberal, it tries to stay in a neutral ground. At its core, The Newsroom 2.0 attempts to show the duplicitous nature of the broadcast industry and how it shapes the national conversation, while rising above the low standards of the modern day news broadcast. Though I wouldn’t mind seeing some modern or even classical conservative thought introduced, I dont have a problem with the way the show is coming along in its push for… Read more »
Biased liberal agenda
Yes, I believe that this show needn’t be renewed, because it is surving it’s only purpose already; pushing liberal propaganda down our throats before an election.
Great Show Hope to see for second season.
IT SHOULD BE RENEWED! I started watching late but I am OBSESSED with the show and it needs another season please please please please! one of the best series ive seen!
Our family really enjoys this show- we never saw West Wing, but now we’re sorry we missed it. Characters are very real; flawed, hopeful, intelligent and they don’t telegraph their next moves- it took us no time at all to care about them. The cast is so accomplished – a pleasure to watch. We’re looking forward to seeing more. Obviously hoping it will be renewed. It’s a terrific fit for HBO.
The Newsroom is a horrible show. It’s a show that presents itself as smart and sophisticated, but is actually dumb and poorly written. I can’t believe something from Sorkin starring Daniels could be this bad. But it is. And that is disappointing, because it is built on a good premise. There are real problems with modern cable news, and journalism in general. The Newsroom just consistently misses the mark on dealing with them.
Watched the first episode and it was ok. I liked some of the characters and the overall idea of the show. The second week was nothing more than liberal propaganda with an extremely weak storyline and terrible bias. Too bad, it could have been good if it weren’t for the ultra liberal spin on actual events. Worst part is that idiots will think it represents the truth. The truth is far from what this show represents.
Best show on TV since The West Wing. Sorkin knocked it out of the park, yet again. Brilliant writing, great characters. Despite what critics say, he writes smart, accomplished women who actually like men. He writes smart, honorable men who revere women. Whether you agree with Sorkin’s politics or not, he raises the level of discourse in entertainment, and inspires the electorate to be better informed, civil and accountable. I sincerely hope Sorkin’s passion is infectious. As for propaganda, fear not. If you are educated and capable of independent thought, Sorkin’s eloquence will not escape you, tie you up or,… Read more »
