Even though Starz just premiered their new TV series, The White Queen, we already know there won’t be a second season.
Based on Philippa Gregory’s bestselling historical novel series The Cousin’s War, The White Queen tells the story of three very different women as they attempt to scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The cast includes Max Irons, James Frain, Rebecca Ferguson, Janet McTeer, Ben Lamb, Amanda Hale, Tom McKay, Aneurin Barnard, David Oakes, Faye Marsay, and Eleanor Tomlinson.
The show is co-financed by the BBC in the United Kingdom and Starz here in the states. The 10-part series began airing on BBC1 in June and completed its run last Sunday night.
According to Broadcast Now, the BBC has maintained that The White Queen was intended to run just one season. However, Gregory had hinted that there were hopes to continue the drama via an adaptation of The White Princess. That novel follows the story of Elizabeth of York who went on to marry Henry VII, the first Tudor King.
It now appears that a continuation won’t be happening. A BBC spokesperson said, “The White Queen will not be returning, but it is important to note that it was never actually conceived as a returnable series.”

I can’t believe that there is no second season of the White Queen. Want a bogus way to get viewers and then drop the show. Shame on Starz’s.
Unbelievable.. wanted to see when the White Queen would start up again, to find that it has ended before it really begun…this is totally outrageous! What could you possibly be thinking, with a story and show such as this, to be wrapped up in 10 episodes! Surely you would continue a second season for yourselves as well as for the viewers! This is just…..ugh!!!! Disappointed to say the least….loved it!

I am SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!! This is my all time favorite show. I could not and can not get enough of TWQ. I still watch the first 10 episode season that is on my ONDEMAND. There would be nothing more that I would like than for The White Queen to continue on. Too Good To be true, huh?! If only!!! I don’t understand why TWQ isn’t continuing, it would do rather well. ((PLEASE, re-consider!))

I am very disappointed. This is a really good series. It’s such a shame that Starz cannot work something out to continue this series. The network really doesn’t have any other really good series, it’s seems to end them Spartacus and Boss for examples. The White Queen competes with Game of Thrones, Vikings, and Davinci’s Demons just to name a few!!
I am pissed that this is happening I found the series to be outstanding. I really wish they would return, if not I am never watching a STARZ premiere this is bogus.
I totally agree, Richard! I actually never really watched STARZ up until TWQ. Hell, I added STARZ to my account just so I would have is to watch “The White Queen” Because I fell so in love with the show. It’s rather heartbreaking to know the show will not be continuing.
Absolutely unbelievable! I watched every show religiously! I grew to love these characters! I am beyond pissed! What are these people thinking?! Give us another season!!!!!!

How can Showtime not continue The White Queen series?? There some much left unresolved and so much more to continue! Not to mention the show itself is incredibly creative and very entertaining. I haven’t enjoyed a series this much since The Sopranos.

I would love to watch the white princess. I didn’t want the White Queen to end. I am fascinated with the history of the British Monarchy. please consider making The White Princess.
You know the funny part about this for me is, I was not so much a history buff in High School and well now that I have watched The White Queen I am rather upset that I wasn’t. History is rather fascinating!! It’s so upsetting to find out they have already deciding on not continuing on.
