A&E has dropped Chloe Sevigny’s drama Those Who Kill from their schedule after two episodes.
Those Who Kill revolves around homicide detective Catherine Jensen (Sevigny) and academic forensic psychologist Thomas Schaeffer (James D’Arcy) who work to solve crimes in Pittsburgh. Others in the cast include James Morrison, Omid Abtahi, Kerry O’Malley, Bruce Davison, Kathy Baker, Michael Rispoli, and Anne Dudek.
The new detective series debuted to 1.4 million viewers. That was less than half of its lead-in, Bates Motel, whose second season premiere drew 3.07 million. Then, in week two, just 830,000 tuned in to watch Kill.
Now that Those Who Kill has been pulled, the cable channel will shift Bates Motel to the 10pm timeslot. A rerun will air at 9pm.
Though the ratings for Kill have been very poor, A&E hasn’t cancelled it. Though things certainly don’t look good, they reportedly believe in the show and want to find another timeslot where it can build an audience. That day/time will be determined later. There are eight unaired episodes remaining.
What do you think? Do you like Those Who Kill? Will you watch when it returns or, do you think it should be cancelled?
Wow, I have heard of a broadcast network pulling a new TV show from its schedule after a few episodes, but a CABLE network pulling a new TV show from its schedule after a few episodes?
Those who kill was great…kept me on the edge of my seat!!!
I am an former prosecutor /investigator….when are you going to relaunch the show!!!
Pick another night for it after the kids go to bed!!!!
Or sell it to another network…..!!!!
We like it, wish networks would give shows more of a chance.
show is very interesting please continue. We need different shows for different tastes.
i only watched the 1st epi and deleted the 2nd when i thought it had been cancelled… even tho the 1st epi was very disturbing cuz that guy was just a crazy f-, i still was very intrigued and hooked on every sec of the show. and i loved ‘big love’ so i was thrilled chloe was going to be starring in her own show! she’s great at trying to appear tough as nails, but being so obviously vulnerable at the same time. personally, i think a&e went too far w/ this series in it’s darkness as ppl are saying,… Read more »
As a Psych nurse, I find these stories very intriguing—I deal with mental health, criminals, etc. on a daily basis. The mind is a very complicated thing and shows like this, allow people to enter into the minds of those who we treat every day. The public should have an understanding of how criminal minds function. With this being said, I can only hope that this show is NOT cancelled!!!!
It is becoming deeply disturbing to me that mindless TV is winning out over cerebral programming. It appears that if watching a program requires even a modicum of thought processing, it does not have an audience. What does it say about our society when programming which has excellent story lines, brilliant acting, wonderful cinematography and superior plots are cancelled time and time again simply because they appeal to an intelligent, thoughtful and thinking public? Very disturbing to me!
They should run all pilots past me. If I like it then it will be cancelled.
Know the feeling, David!
I have been hooked from the first episode. I think Chloe is one of the best actresses of our time. I truly believe if more people were aware of this show, it would garner a huge following. It just needs time to hook more people, which judging from what I have read on their fb page won’t take alot of effort. There are already so many followers. I love this show, please don’t shelve it!!
All things deserve a second chance Dont they?! I loved it!
It’s a great show. Great acting great plots. I hope it gets a second chance.
All programs on all stations should get a one season chance. I can not remember even seeing this program advertised on any channel. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t, but it does mean that it wasn’t very much or often. I understand the drop the second week may send out negative signals but what else was going on that 2nd week? I am a Pittsburgher and for it to remain a secret here, is a pretty bad thing. A&E should continue it and advertise on all channels (ABC- CBS- NBC) including A&E so it gets an opportunity to survive. A… Read more »
Am so glad this is cancelled. It is way over the top DARK. This show is like Criminal Minds which I cannot watch either as it is just tooooooooo dark and disgusting. This one shows those taken for killing to be tortured. Who likes to see people being tortured? A network company should use some judgment regarding content.
it’s not canceled. it’s just been pulled while they find another time slot. as for dar . yes torture. do you remember 24? that was torture. alias? and many more. i know not for everyone.
Never saw 24. Alias didn’t have the torture I see in Those Who Kill.
Anyway, I have an “OFF ” button. Didn’t know a lot of people liked watching torture.
I love cop shows as much as the next person but this one was too dark!
I love it yes I will watch it
it’s a pretty dark show. a crazy cop chasing criminals. i like it but i can see how many don’t.
