A&E has dropped Chloe Sevigny’s drama Those Who Kill from their schedule after two episodes.
Those Who Kill revolves around homicide detective Catherine Jensen (Sevigny) and academic forensic psychologist Thomas Schaeffer (James D’Arcy) who work to solve crimes in Pittsburgh. Others in the cast include James Morrison, Omid Abtahi, Kerry O’Malley, Bruce Davison, Kathy Baker, Michael Rispoli, and Anne Dudek.
The new detective series debuted to 1.4 million viewers. That was less than half of its lead-in, Bates Motel, whose second season premiere drew 3.07 million. Then, in week two, just 830,000 tuned in to watch Kill.
Now that Those Who Kill has been pulled, the cable channel will shift Bates Motel to the 10pm timeslot. A rerun will air at 9pm.
Though the ratings for Kill have been very poor, A&E hasn’t cancelled it. Though things certainly don’t look good, they reportedly believe in the show and want to find another timeslot where it can build an audience. That day/time will be determined later. There are eight unaired episodes remaining.
What do you think? Do you like Those Who Kill? Will you watch when it returns or, do you think it should be cancelled?
It is a great show, it was not marketed very well and most people never heard of it. Change the time but please bring it back!
PLEASE don’t cancel!!!! Love this show!
For the love of God A&E….you have a great show here with an edge of your seat plot …..and your thinking of cancelling it???? With all the mindless reality shows clogging up the networks we finally a show you can get into, get lost in, and actually look forward to watching. Give it a better time slot, more advertising, something…..don’t pull the plug because 6 people didn’t like it. The show is edgy, provocative, and you feel like your living in Pittsburgh watching it. Great Show!!! Maybe FX will take it over if your executives don’t like it. Just sayin…………………
My wife Kathy and I love this show. Can’t believe this!
I would be very upset and feel like to be cheated if they cancelled the show in the middle or they do not release the finale. In my personal opinion, it is a good show.
those who kill should get another chance and a better time slot! I love this show. It needs more time to develop and for the writers to develop the characters more. It is a real good show. I love it. maybe better than CBS’s Criminal Minds.
Please do not cancel. Very good show. Need to know is she shot Howard. Need to know if Shaffeur is on of the good guys. Need to know if her partner will forgive her. Will they keep her on the force. A lot of suspense .
Love it! Please don’t cancel…did she shoot Howard?
I wrote yesterday regarding this series. Maybe the producers need to take it to HBO or a similar venue and compare it to Dexter as Dexter was very popular. To me this show falls into the same category. I think it needs to be publicized in a different way to draw in the audience like Dexter had.
I love thios show ,in think I speak for a few people ,please don’t cancel!! I love the chemistry on the lead characters ! Chloe is great !! love , love l0ove this show
I was excited about this series. For some reason I knew in the first episode I was hooked. Then heard it was cancelled, then moved. I love love this show and the characters are great. It kind of reminds me of Dexter but more explanation as to why they are doing these killings. I love the story with her dad being a judge and all going on there. Maybe if it were on at 8 or 9 and not on lifetime it would be better who knows. Anyway hope it isn’t cancelled.
I liked the show. Will be upset if they cancel.
I blame this entirely on marketing! The only reason I tuned in for the first time was the title – it intrigued me! This is a great show! So much better than the cop drivel shown on network channels & certainly (although much different) on par with shows like “Elementary”! A&E – Shopping for a new channel? Try Lifetime! They have come a long way with violence & psychodrama! I am disappointed that A&E (who looked like they were trying to compete with FX) dropped this show!!!
I love the show. It gives me the same feeling as “The Killing”. Why do stations always cancel good shows before they build up a following? My sister never heard go the show. It was poorly advertised. This is why good shows are set up to fail. With such pathetic advertising, I’m surprised it got so many viewers. Spend a little more promotional funds and you’ll have a hit!
I rather enjoy the show whch is now shown on LMN. I’ve watched 4 episodes and will continue to watch it. I must say, the opening with the spider is as creepy as it gets.
