Torchwood ended five years ago, and a revival has been possible. However, the man behind Captain Jack, John Barrowman, has revealed the reasons why a revival has not already happened.
It is a matter of egos, according to him. Radio Times shared his comments. He said the following:
“I was told that there are some obstacles to overcome, and every time I tried to talk about a way around them, it was almost like there was another obstacle. And this is a personal thing for me, this is not anything that was discussed, but I find it really a little disheartening that a company like the BBC can’t just say ‘Put your egos aside, we’re gonna go forward with this.’ I travel all over the world, and I see the popularity of Torchwood. But when it comes down that it’s not being done because of people’s egos, I find that really difficult. There’s a lot of politics involved, and the people that are close to it, I think would love to see it done, but there’s just certain egos in the path that are just standing in the way. That’s all I’ll say.”
Fans of John Barrowman can still see him on the small screen. He is a part of the DC Universe on CW. He has appeared on Arrow since season one.
Do you want Torchwood to return? Tell us what you think.
Yes, I wouldlove to see Torchwood back on the air. It was such a brilliant show, it’s a shame there’s so many obstacles in the way, but we have John Barrowman fighting for it, and hopefully everything will get straightened out.
I would dearly love Torchwood to return – and I agree with John, there are egos standing in the way of an amazing series, blockages that have been artificially created when everyone else wants to get on with the return of (dare I say it? Yes!) a show that quickly became a dazzling star unencumbered by the rules of the show that spawned it – and for some of us eclipsed it?
Long live Torchwood.
