In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

Come on…nothing on TV is real…but is it at least entertaining?? I think Trauma keeps the show moving and I just want to see a bit more of the “friendship” stuff rather than the “love interest”…. and a bit more of the real life strange things that can happen to people in these jobs!! I have heard some first hand crazy stories!!! Keep the show going…it is entertaining!
Keep this on the air its really a great show and i am hooked
Some Excellent comments were posted here about Trauma. I’ve NEVER been interested in ANY Medical show in the past. Trauma has changed that though. From the Pilot episode I was hooked. Even knowing it’s likely to get dumped by the “Overly happy to cancel a show and piss of their fans, Network Executives” I still plan on watching the rest of the series. It has good action, characters and subplots. Show creaters and developers need a way to Force networks into a contract binding them to at least one full season. You can’t accurately rate a new show before it’s… Read more »
Give it a chance. So many good shows get canceled after one season. You get viewers caught up in them and then cancel them. It seems like it’s all about reality TV these days. I’d much rather watch a good one hour drama.
We all wonder why the ratings are not as good as expected. I watched tv all week, and there was not promo spot to let anyone know that Trauma was on monday night.
Although, i guess we will still re-runs of law and order every saturday night, why not put trauma on then. We want our Trauma show kept on. Obviously the network is stalling to see how these stupid comedies do, like parks & recreation, the office, and many more i hate to count. They are all the same, just different actors.
I’m still holding my breath to see if Trauma will be renewed. This is one of our favorite shows on TV, and should definitely be renewed. It shows life the way it really is, and we should never lose sight of that.

I love this comment!
Best show on TV I dont understand why more people don’t like it.
My question is why are we not hearing from NBC regarding Trauma, enough already, we want to know what your doing with this show. You give us hints on how to keep it on, watch it live, don’t tivo, and all the other hints, what have you all decided. I think as fans we should know what NBC has in mind. Have you thought about canceling some other stupid comedies that are on other nights, there are some really stupid shows on. The only good comedy you have added is the marriage ref, other than that, i can’t think of… Read more »
Yadda yadda yadda Not another medical related show
Keep it Its not er but if action pack
The show will not make it but Amy Garcia is hot. I might watch it again just to see her pretty face. I’m tired of medic style shows and I dont care for this one.
Finally this show is on here in NZ……I absolutely LOVE IT!
Please don’t take it away….you people are always doing it to some great shows!

Love Trauma – hope it gets picked up
Please give Trauma a chance, it has taken shows many months before they get loyal watchers. I hated Mercy in the beginning it took me months to like it, like Trauma better, but you put it on, take it off, put it on, then people wonder should i start watching it, or are they going to take it off again, give this great show with great characters a chance, look at time, date, and who they are going against, not fair to loyal viewers. Give it up with all the Law & Order shows, stop giving svu two hours, give… Read more »
There’s a lot of negative comments about Trauma. Give it a chance!! There’s not hardly any medical shows on now.
