In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

I think its terrible to cancel Trauma..I looked forward to Monday nights and setting down with a drink to watch this show please dont cancel it..Its better than most shows these networks are putting our there…
Put the news one or something!
As previously mentioned, black shows should be considered and I agree!
Cancel it.
This is a great show….If it is not broken, why fix it.
Yee boy! Daz wut imma talkin bout! NBC step up wid ya game n put on black shows, n watch y’all ratings go up.
Scrap it!!!!!!!
Put somethin’ wif’ black folks leadin’ roles. House of Payne is a good sample!
Dare to talk crap ’bout wut I say, NBC and viewers y’all might be considered racist.
Sadly, this show will probably make another season due to pathetic background extra workers voting for the show to stay for the sake of their wanna be actress and actor work. I Did a scene with Aimee once, but that doesn’t mean the show is good and should stay.
This is the only show that my husband and I looked forward to watching every Monday evening. I really hope that they choose to keep it on the air. The episodes always made me feel like I was right there with the EMT’s helping them in everything that was going on. Everything always looked to real in this show too. Please keep this show on the air and come out with new episodes. It deserves a chance if all of the other shows like Mercy and Chuck do because they are horrible!!!
I thought it was the best show on tv
As an FF/EMT/HAZ-MAT, I see cases all the time. NO its not true to life. But neither is ER, House, NCIS, CSI, or any other show. Yes I hold a Criminal Justice Degree. This is entertainment people, get over it!! Are you going to criticize Shakespeare next?
loved this show keep it on
this is a great show!
I really enjoy the show – my favorite was the pilot episode. I think they should keep it, it’s a good show to replace ER
