Fans of CBS‘ Under the Dome series will finally get some answers. The network has announced that the Thursday night drama will come to an end after three seasons, on Thursday, September 10th.
Here are the details:
THE DOME WILL COME DOWN AND ITS MYSTERIOUS ORIGINS REVEALED DURING THE SERIES FINALE OF “UNDER THE DOME,” THURSDAY, SEPT. 10
CBS announced today that the Dome in Chester’s Mill will come down and its mysteries revealed during the series finale of UNDER THE DOME on Thursday, Sept. 10. Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, UNDER THE DOME debuted Monday, June 24, 2013 and has been one of the most-watched shows on television for the past three summers.
In the series finale, when the Dome comes down, many questions about its origin and power will be answered, as two groups of residents engage in one final conflict that some won’t survive.
“Two years ago, UNDER THE DOME broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. “DOME’s event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful rollouts of EXTANT and ZOO. We’re excited to present the final chapter in Chester’s Mill as the story comes full circle, with the Dome coming down as dramatically as it went up.”
All three seasons of UNDER THE DOME will continue to be available for unlimited streaming to fans and members of Amazon’s Prime Video, which has been the exclusive subscription video on demand (SVOD) home for DOME since the show premiered.
About “Under the Dome”
UNDER THE DOME tells the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. Combating Dome and man-made threats daily, the residents of Chester’s Mill rose to new heights of ingenuity, courage and, for some, darkness, in order to survive their post-apocalyptic isolation. Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris, Eddie Cahill, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford, Mackenzie Lintz and Kylie Bunbury star. UNDER THE DOME is produced by CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Tim Schlattmann and Peter Leto are executive producers.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Under the Dome is ending? Would you have watched a fourth season or should the series have ended awhile ago?
Season 3 has jumped the shark. It is time to go.
Yahoo! Show was getting so boring. Good decision
Another show on the chopping block! Yes, Myself and fellow coworkers would have watched a season 4. Thanks for the 3 seasons we’ve had.
FINALLY…CRIPES!
Cancellation is long past due. It would have much better been a one season series. As it was, this show lost its course near the end of season one and I could not bear to watch season 2.
Another great show ending. Getting a bit tired of it. Still miss Eureka, Warehouse 13, Sanctuary and I am going to miss Haven and now the Dome. Why do they keep ending these shows???
Haven is coming back again for the final season.
I’m not surprised. I mean, how much further could it have gone? To me, it just seemed like a premise that couldn’t be stretched across that many seasons of tv anyway.
@Terry i agree they should have let us know they were going to end it at the beginning of the season.
Another series that should have ended in the first year. Networks must give a warning before a series begins that they plan to drag a premise more than the initial episodes. Now I know why they changed the title producer to show runner. Series are designed to run a dash, then a longer distance and a mile when creativity is in a repetitive pattern of predictability.
Britain series excel by concentrating on content and putting an actual end to a show.
If you read the book it’s a wonder that it wasn’t just a mini-series in the first place. But they basically made it a different story I guess. I lost interest after a couple episodes when I saw it was something else
And, this is the reason why I never bother watching a normal tv show during the week during summer. You get so invested for three years and poof. Big buttholes cancel good shows. Oh well, guess I will just have to not watch anything during the summer. If you are going to cancel summer shows so easily why even invest the time, paying the people, the studio, ect. Just to cancel a show people learn to like. Of course TV rating suck in summer not too many people watch TV they are out getting shitfaced and they don’t watch TV.… Read more »
I really did like the show & the characters. Could we not have enough had 1 more season??? Then let us know at the beginning it was the last year.
I agree, take some of the characters & do a spin off. .love Barbie, Julia, Jim, Joe etc
At least there will be an ending. Would rather have an ending then just be canceled….Would like to see some of the characters spin off on a new series and continue with their lives outside the dome…Like Barbie etc…with their regular lives….
I could have done a season 4, Oh well i guess all good things have to come to an end.
I would have loved to see one more season!
It seemed to get lost this year. Not that some of the side-threads like the young lady being held captive seemed seriously out of place and added nothing to the story line.
Afraid I’m much more of a fan of Koontz than King.
