Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I will miss Anna’s smoking hot daughter. This and Stargate Universe, where finally getting good, when the plug got pulled.
Please do one more season or at least 2 hour movie. This is the best serial i watched.. I really like it.
Someone in an earlier comment criticized me for comparing ‘V’ to the original 1983 mini-series and television show that followed. Forget about the original series, ‘V’ as a stand alone sci-fi series was a dismissal failure. What redeeming qualities did it have? As I stated before, to me it was essentially your run-of-the-mill cop show. It’s sci-fi aspect, drama and intrigue ALL took a back seat! What made the show interesting or stand out? Where were the interesting characters and stories? Where was the risk taking? Where was the imagination? I’m sorry, but all that was absent. Go compare ‘V’… Read more »
This is getting ridiculous, all the good shows keep getting cancelled. This is why no one wants to commit to a show, what is the point if when it gets good it may get cancelled any how. So far they have cancelled “V”, “off the map”, “the event”, “No ordinary family”….this really sucks!!!!
******* ABC crap. Show was great, one of my favorite one. Stupid, money driven networks who make decisions based on excel sheet calculations. I am never watching an ABC show again. Crap.
I liked it, only thing I had a problem with was the special effects, they often were too obvious but other than that, it was great. So with The Event and Stargate Universe also gone, we SF fans have nothing to look forward anymore.
V was a great show – looked forward to it every week. Growing tired of watching great shows with no resolutions or finalities to story lines before the show is cancelled. It has happened so many times in the past few years. Perhaps execs should come up with movies that complete the story lines of cancelled shows. Think we will resolve to stop watching network series altogether. There are plenty of other options available these days!
The theme is the same: average viewship, changing nights and months between shows = no chance for V’s survival… the alphabet networks win and WE, the viewers, get screwed once again…
and what do we do, go right back to watching the terrible new show they put on… and if there happens to be a good one: look out!!… it will sure be canceled within 2 seasons…
Dam! Anna was fine!
ABC can kiss my entire ass for canceling V. I’ll do everything in power to start a nationwide boycott of ABC and all the bogus cancelling of good shows! Who the hell is making these decisions and are they smoking CRACK!!! WTF!!!!!!! Stop getting people hooked on good shows and then making them disappear without so much as a hint. You greedy ******** I hope yall all burn in HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really mean this ****!
as a story teller you must have the willingness to bring your story to an end , how can you expect to gain the trust of your viewers to watch a serial on your network , when they must gamble their time on whether you will finish what you have started? imagine buying a book that suddenly ends with the words ‘ I am sorry , but I don’t think you are very interested in this story , I am going to stop writing now’ , would you buy another book by that author ? it is the fact that… Read more »
So disappointed that V was canceled. So many people talked me into watch it, when I finally do, and get hooked up, it is canceled. What a slap on the face!
They waited to long to make it interesting trying to be all suspenseful and look where it got them. Now the people who did watch wanting answers, not fair. Finally got rid of Logan Huffman, things were looking up. But they started with the wrong cast at start, all the visitors were perfect but they killed off any of the good acting humans except Scott Wolf. I mean come on Elizabeth Mitchell was not the right person for that roll, she kind of killed the show in my opinion.
Sci-Fi fans gave ABC a second chance on the newest series version of V and once again, they failed…. Third time the charm? Doubt it! The General Public doesn’t have patience in their earthly beings to watch a plot unfold in EXTRA, EXTRA SLOW MOTION even with the interesting special effects. Not even DVR and fast-forwarding ability saved them from their doom – it felt like you were watching it for 2 hours instead of 40 minutes – V’s demise … now there’s a VICTORY FOR ALL MANKIND!
all networks are money driven *****,its no wonder ratings are low if they keep cancelling shows …. people are afraid to commit.
