The world of network television can be a confusing and scary place, not unlike Wayward Pines. TV shows can disappear without any explanation. A show can be touted as a big success and then, the next week, it’s gone. So, how’s Wayward Pines been doing? Will it survive to see a second season? Should it stick around? Cancel or keep it?
On Wayward Pines, Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) drives to the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, in search of two missing federal agents. One was a former partner and they once had an affair. A truck slams into his car, he wakes up in the local hospital, and things start to get really strange. The cast of this thriller series also includes Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo, Carla Gugino, Toby Jones, Shannyn Sossamon, Charlie Tahan, Reed Diamond, Juliette Lewis, and Tim Griffin.
The series premiered in mid-May to a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.76 million viewers. It wasn’t an impressive start for a new scripted series but FOX had made the pilot available online for a week at the end of April.
That may have been one of the reasons that the ratings grew in week two — by more than 20%. Episode two garnered a 1.2 in the demo with 4.589 million viewers. The numbers have fluctuated a little since then but they’ve essentially held steady. Thus far, the season’s averaged a 1.15 in the demo with 4.04 million.
While the ratings certainly aren’t very impressive, Wayward Pine’s relatively small audience seems to be pretty devoted and consistently watches. What’s more, FOX has been having a hard time establishing scripted series and this is their only dramatic offering thus far this summer.
While the numbers could certainly be a whole lot better, I suspect that FOX will renew Wayward Pines for another run for next summer.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Wayward Pines series? Would you watch a second season? Cancel or keep it?
Keep it!

But, it’s on same time as Mistresses. Can’t watch both at the same time. I’ve tried down loading the Fox app to watch it on line, but I’m having problems.
KEEP IT! My daughter and I love it! Part The Prisoner, part Twin Peaks, part The Village. We need more TV like this!

KEEEEEEEEEEP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayward Pines has lured me back to watching regulat TV. Keep it on the air! It is a GREAT show! Well written, superb cast, great set. Riveting! For once, FOX, be the network that listens to the fans and keep it on the air!!
Keep it but only one more year.
KEEP IT!! I’m addicted. Did I mention, I’m addicted? Surely you can find a way to keep the original cast and maybe bring in new ones, but don’t make us start all over with a new cast. I agree with the person who said you need to listen to the older demographics. It’s the older folk that watch TV and spend money on your umpteen advertised products. You are targeting the wrong people. Please don’t get us all wrapped up in a show and then ax it! I love this show. I’m so addicted!!
when u say older folk how old lol because I am 22 and mY bf is 21 and we love it I am watching the Gone series also which is really cool it shows a lot of other stuff
Well, I mean the age group over the 45. The demographics that TV’s try to aim for is to have 18-49 (I think that is the right age balance) watch their shows. And you and I both fall into that, but I’m gaining fast on the “past that age group”…lol, and I feel that 40’s and above watch more TV. I’m not saying I’m right, I’m just saying I feel, because of people I know and comments I see on sites. It just seems that in this day and age, all the younger folk are too busy for television. Keep it. Love it. My only issue is I hear that season 2 may not have anyone from season one in it. I would not watch if the original cast is not in the second season.
Keep it!! Finally a show that isn’t a cookie cutter Of The show that came before it!!
