Robert and Michelle King found success with their last CBS series, The Good Wife. Now, they’re trying something different with BrainDead. How will it perform in the ratings? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
On BrainDead, Laurel Healy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has returned home to Washington, DC to work for her brother, Senator Luke Healy (Danny Pino) on Capitol Hill. She is caught in the midst of two huge problems: the government has stopped working due to budgetary disagreements, and mysterious bugs are eating the brains of a growing number of members of Congress and Hill staffers. The rest of the cast includes Aaron Tveit, Tony Shalhoub, Nikki M. James, Johnny Ray Gill, Charlie Semine, and Jan Maxwell.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
10/18 update: CBS has cancelled BrainDead after one season. Details here.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the BrainDead TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
The show is awful What a waste of Danny Pino, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Tony Shaloub. The good news? STARZ just renewed The Girlfriend Experience with a 0.06 average per episode rating, so a 0.48 average per episode looks awesome compared to that.
Love Braindead. Most creative & well written show of the year. Has not been given a good chance for survival due to awful scheduling problems & promotion. Please save fit those of us who like smart, creative shows.
Love this job. Please renew.
Renew this series! So good!
Just discovered this show on Amazon Prime Video. Its genius! It also has zero chance of being renewed on CBS. Why would you run a progressive leaning, satirical, sci fi TV show on the network with the oldest skewing audience? Hopefully the producers can get it picked up by TBS or Comedy Central where it will have a chance to pick up a decent audience share. I’d hate to see a show this creative and original not get a fair shake.
We love brain dead ! Please renew
This is great satire. You must renew it. Great TV
I think this show is the best comedy on TV…it makes fun of everyone and has great actors. I think that it is maybe “too close to home” and the real comedians in DC don’t like to see their reflection on TV. KEEP IT…unless its too intelligent for the raters I can’t see why its not a hit!
Renew! Original, comically close to reality, a gem.
Please cancel immediately. This show is a mess. If you’re going to have a show about politics, you should have something relevant to say and the actors should appear to understand the words they are saying.
A sense of humor is required
I LOVE the show. In the times we’re in now, it’s a great show to be able to sit back and laugh at. The fact that the bugs LOVE “You might think” by The Cars is pretty HILARIOUS!! I hope they continue the show for the rest of the season and for more to come.
We LOVE this show!!!! Please renew! 🙂 So funny 🙁
BrainDead has grown on me over its course so far and I’ve started to rly look forward to it. I went into it originally expecting a little more as Sci-Fi/Horror-Comedy and I was a bit put off by its spotlight on political satire… It quickly found a nice balance after the first two episodes tho and is starting to become more and more exciting. I’m rooting for the show to succeed, but I am a bit worried about that 18-49 demo. CBS has big expectations of their shows but the overall downward trend of the obviously archaic Nielsen ratings system… Read more »
At first I thought it was boring. By the end of first episode I was interested. By end of second episode I was hooked. No. It is not THE GOOD WIFE. It is totally different. Different from anything on TV. Now it is a MUST WATCH!!! I usually don’t like strange shows, but I really like this one. Please, don’t cancel.
If you were a fan of THE GOOD WIFE, you really wouldn’t want a redo. You would always be comparing and probably wouldn’t like it. Give this show about 2 episodes before you decide.
Smart, funny and VERY prescient. Best thing on TV this summer; IMHO, even better than the second season of UnReal. I laugh out loud at something on every episode. Wondered at first how far they’d be able to take the premise, but they clearly have that challenge licked. Now I’m just praying for the kind of critical response that will insulate it from cancellation until it catches on.
I keep watching and hope it gets better. Not even close to the good wife. Am watching an episode right now. Boring & silly!
