Dallas: Jess Metcalfe and Julie Gonzalo Join TNT Pilot

Jesse MetcalfeThe proposed “next generation” version of Dallas is moving right along. TNT recently announced that they’d ordered a pilot for a potential new show that would continue the story of Dallas, this time centered around the offspring of original series characters Bobby and J.R. Ewing.

Young John Ross will be played by Josh Henderson (Desperate Housewives), J.R. and Sue Ellen’s son. Jordana Brewster will play Elana, a beauty who’s part of a love triangle between John Ross and his cousin Christopher.

Now, Jesse Metclafe, best known for playing sexy young gardener John Rowland on Desperate Housewives, has been cast in the role of Christopher Ewing, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam Ewing. Metcalfe was most recently seen as a series regular on NBC’s Chase which is all but officially cancelled.

Also joining the updated Dallas cast is Julie Gonzalo, who you might remember from her work on ABC’s Eli Stone or The CW’s Veronica Mars before that. Gonzalo will play Rebecca, Christopher’s fiancee.

Larry Hagman as J.R., Patrick Duffy as Bobby, and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen have been signed for the pilot but it’s unknown if they will continue if the pilot’s picked up as a TNT series. The project is being led by Cane creator Cynthia Cidre and Warner Horizon.

What do you think? Do you like the latest casting? Who else would you like to see?

The previews I have seen for the new show are great. I think the did great on casting. As for not liking an actor because of another show is grap. Even if they were bad on another show, does not mean this part is not for them. They should be like any actor or actress given the chance to make a part there own.

I agree with Eric, Jesse Metcalfe will bring this show down. This show is now finished even before it got started.Bag the trash and cast a new Christopher Ewing.

I wonder why the original John Ross Ewing and Christopher Ewing was not ask to play the parts they created back in the 80’s. JM is not Dallas material. He barely made it on Desperate House Wives and Chase, he was okay in the movie John Tucker Must die. JM is only in my opinion is good for daytime tv acting only, but that is just my opinion no one else.

I was looking forward to the show anyways, but I am even looking foward to it even more now that JM in the cast. I was a huge fan of Passions from day one glad to see him back. I just wish the orginal actor was playing John Ross outside of that I am excited to see this. I am hope it is a huge hit.

I’ve never heard of the guy, but I can see why actors and actresses get screwed up considering the rejection they take from people like you who announce that they changed their minds about watching a show just because the guy is in it. Hey, we all have opinions, but unlike “stars” like Tom Cruise, Charlie Sheen, Alec Baldwin etc. who provide plenty of reasons in their real lives for people to form opinions about them, guys like Jesse Metcalfe are just looking for a break in a heartless business. And if you boycott every show that features eye candy, you’re pretty much left with the convention coverage every four years.

Leave Charlie Sheen alone. He is a great human being.Men need to be more like him.By the way Jesse Metcalfe is a terrible actor. You could do better. Hell my dead grandpa would out act him.

I was interested in this project until the addition of Jesse Metcalfe. I do not like him as an actor at this point of his career, which is saying something since I have been watching him since he was on the soap opera “Passions”. I just can’t stomach his acting any more because all it really seems to be is his ability to not wear his shirt and not his ability to actually you know ACT.
